Description Background Information: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems for the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer based in our Arlington, VA office.
Overview: IDT is seeking a senior engineer for a technical leadership position.
This individual will be responsible for applying Systems Engineering principles and methodologies to technical projects using model-based tools.
The individual will work on cutting-edge DoD projects that involve complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
The individual will lead small teams of engineers and collaborate with other teams and stakeholders across the organization to deliver high-quality solutions and contract deliverables that meet technical performance, quality, and cost goals.
All applicants must be able to obtain a U.S.
Security Clearance.
Responsibilities Include:
• Manage and coordinate projects and tasks that include the development of model-based systems engineering artifacts, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
• Gather and document requirements to understand customer problem spaces and develop appropriate Systems Engineering approaches.
• Define and implement best practices and standards for Systems Engineering processes and methods that leverage model-based systems engineering
• Develop and maintain system models using SysML, UML, or other modeling languages and tools.
• Perform system analysis, verification, validation, and optimization using model-based techniques and tools.
• Communicate and present system models and results to internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Math, or other Engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience with MBSE and/or Systems Engineering, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or automotive industry.
Required Skills:
• Understanding of different Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) approaches
• Experience with model development using SysML, UML, or other modeling languages.
• Experience with the application of system architecture frameworks such as DODAF or UAF.
• Experience with MBSE tools, such as MagicDraw/Cameo/Enterprise Architect, Teamwork Cloud, Rhapsody, and DOORS.
• Knowledgeable in system analysis, verification, validation, and optimization techniques.
• Ability to define and apply SE and MBSE methodologies and best practices within DoD Systems Engineering contexts.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with Navy combat systems such as the Aegis Weapon System or other Navy tactical applications.
• Experience with Navy testing programs and practices.
• DoD Air and Surface Warfare software development domain knowledge and experience.
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, C++, and Python.
Competencies:
