Role Title: Sr. Systems Engineer – Disaster Recovery
Location: Remote (onsite required ~quarterly) will operate in EST
Role Type: 12 months + contract – good chance of extensions and/or perm conversion
PURPOSE:
Will assist in building out the disaster recovery team, providing additional support to manage workload
QUALIFICATIONS
5 years systems engineering related experience- should be knowledgeable in servers, storage, networking, security, firewalls, and Windows, Red Hat, or AIX operating systems.
Minimum of 3 + years of Disaster Recovery experience
Ability to support and contribute to disaster recovery exercises—conducting multiple exercises per year, including documentation, coordination, and preparation for upcoming tests
Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues during disaster recovery exercises and daily operations
Familiarity with business continuity principles and how they integrate with disaster recovery operations to minimize downtime and data loss.
Familiarity with server management, storage solutions, networking, and security protocols in a datacenter environment
Ability to work within a support role in a small, dynamic team—collaborating with other team members and departments to ensure disaster recovery goals are met.
Comfort with non-technical support tasks, including creating and maintaining DR documentation, preparing reports, and attending relevant meetings.
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
50% Assisting with the work associated with our Disaster Recovery exercises to our South Carolina datacenter. This includes 4 quarterly planned exercises. Work includes planning, setup, configuration, documentation, support and troubleshooting of these exercises.
10% Installs, tunes, upgrades, troubleshoots, and maintains all computer systems relevant to the supported applications including all necessary tasks to perform operating system administration, user account management, disaster recovery strategy and networking configuration.
10% Develop and implement techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoots incidents to recover services and supports root cause analysis
10% Automates the installation and configuration of applications in development and productions environments.
10% Evaluates new systems by performing in-depth tests, including end-user reviews. Researches software and related products to support recommendations and purchasing. Determines systems integration issues by evaluating components; developing and completing performance tests; analyzing test data; studying project requirements; analyzing user and potential user input; evaluating similar and related products and systems. Develop system automation and system integration of business processes.
10% Improves engineering job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
