Job Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer with Data Protection experience is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing systems that ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the organization's data. This role involves working with various IT teams to develop and maintain data protection strategies, including backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning, and data security. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering with a strong focus on data protection technologies and best practices. This is a 6 month contract to hire and requires an active Secret clearance or higher.
Responsibilities:
- Data Protection Strategy and Implementation:
- Design and implement comprehensive data protection strategies to safeguard critical data.
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Implement disaster recovery plans and conduct regular testing to ensure preparedness.
- Systems Engineering and Administration:
- Manage and maintain enterprise systems, including servers, storage, and network infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and security updates.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce data security policies and procedures to protect against data breaches and unauthorized access.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Backup and Recovery Management:
- Configure and manage backup solutions, including scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting backups.
- Develop and implement data recovery procedures to minimize data loss and downtime.
- Maintain detailed documentation of backup configurations and recovery processes.
- Disaster Recovery Planning:
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans and procedures.
- Coordinate DR testing and drills to ensure the effectiveness of recovery plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with IT and business teams to understand data protection requirements and provide solutions.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of data protection initiatives.
- Provide training and support to end-users and other IT staff on data protection practices.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest data protection technologies, trends, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement enhancements to data protection measures.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and contribute to the overall IT strategy.
