About the Job
Skills Required:
• Experience working with information technology, with a strong background in Windows system administration.
• The candidate should have a strong understanding of Windows Security to assist in vulnerability remediation (ex: Operating System support for applications, such as File Transfer based applications, Service Account Ownership remediation, Password resets for Service Accounts).
• The candidate should have strong troubleshooting skills to assist in daily operational tasks. The contractor will assist with the following projects: Monthly & Quarterly Patching, Infrastructure Patching & Validation), Vulnerability Remediation and others. Additionally, the contractor will be used to provide daily operational support.
• Adaptable, collaborative, strong team player, detail oriented, ability to multitasking Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work within strict deadlines and with a wide spectrum of people.
• Evaluate and Patch FHI servers (ex: Windows 2019 servers using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager).
• Windows 2019 and 2022 experience.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues.
• Provide Level 1 support for the systems and related applications.
• Establish and administer change control, Operational Changes (OC's), for the environment.
• Install, configure, and administer the operating system, mail system, peripheral devices, and networking protocols.
• Perform system administration; security, file and directory permissions, adding/deleting users, etc.
• Work with Information Security to review vulnerabilities and remediate those issues.
• Ensure system optimization; monitor, troubleshoot and resolve performance issues as they relate to; process, CPU, memory, i/o network, and web server.
• Perform task automation; batch, queuing and scheduling.
• Work closely with the application teams to provide integrated planning for operating system upgrades, database upgrades, application upgrades and hardware migrations.
• Perform off-hours support as required.
• Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and effective interpersonal and communication skills with clients, coworkers and vendors.
• Backfill support for our primary Windows Administrators while they work to define our future environment (ex: DevOps, Operational support for Azure-based systems management).
Duties/Responsibilities:
• 15% - Install, configure, and administer Exchange software within a multi- client/server environment.
• 10% - Responsible for Break/Fix recovery methodologies and the ability to perform each.
• 10% - Establish and administer security.
• 15% - Monitor and optimize performance.
• 5% - Work closely with application teams to provide input and oversight responsibility for the logical and physical design.
• 5% - Understand the application use of the associated technologies.
• 5% - Plan and implement disaster recovery.
• 5% - Perform long-term strategic planning for: growth, upgrades, operating system upgrades, hardware capacity, and hardware migrations.
• 5% - Participate in the research, evaluation, and purchase of future platforms.
• 5% - Remain current with the state of major cloud vendors' service offerings.
• 15% - Work within cross-functional teams to implement and administer cloud platform solutions using automation, scripting, and infrastructure as code.
• 5% - Miscellaneous
