Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Sr. Staff Command and Control (C2) Software Architect - 13311. This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Colorado Springs, Colorado and will support the Sentinel Program.
What You'll Get To Do:
1. Work with the system architecture team to understand the system features and limitations.
a. Provide software architecture to capitalize on the system features to support the high system requirements (the most challenging for us being the NS/Cyber requirements)
b. Provide software architecture to manage the system limitations. Provide architecture which identifies the risk and mitigates the risk again to satisfy the system requirements. Own the mitigation steps to manage risk.
c. Provide feedback to system arch team in trades, IE if we change system architecture what is the impact to our Software architecture. Identify system changes and how the architecture can support that or how the change will impact causing cost/schedule.
2. Convey the software architecture rules and pattern to the product owners.
a. Convey the why to the product teams and describe the feature or rule to a team so that they understand the importance of being compliant with the software architecture.
b. Ensure the design as decomposed down by the products conforms to the software architecture goals. This is a review and guidance role and should build a bench for future leaders.
c. Be available to the product teams so that risks and opportunities in the design can be traded.
3. Convey the software architecture to the Chief Engineer. This will be a technical baseline understanding of the architecture explained through a Director level discussion of the architecture, what design features we are using of COTS products, HW features and designs on our system to satisfy the requirements.
a. Present to leadership the architect for LAP and inhibit to NWSC. Oversee junior engineers to create the LAP and provide understanding how using the architecture features provide the guardrails to keep it safe, to keep it within the timebox and keep it in the determined outcome.

Salary Range: $158,200 - $237,200
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Job Qualifications:
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- 14 Years with Bachelor's in relevant field of study, 12 Years with Masters, 09 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
- US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Must have current Special Program Access (SAP)
- Current understanding of software engineering best practices.
- Experience in software engineering, system design, and architecture.
- Advanced level experience in directing software/system architecture decisions and developing command and control software.
- Ability to team plan, execute, and manage the technical scope, and support leadership planning.
- Experience with Agile and working in a cross-function Scrum team.
- Familiarity with Board Support Package development and integration.
- Experience with DO-178C Flight Critical Systems Safety programming.
- Experience with USAF Nuclear Surety and Cyber Certification.
- Experience integrating multiple engineering specialties and stakeholders across multiple Integrated Product Teams and Suppliers.
- Experience leading design, production, and integration of complex systems.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
- Experience leading the performance of technical tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as technical lead.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Experience in working closely with customers to ensure delivery of systems that meet warfighter needs.
- Ability to collaborate and achieve consensus when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Demonstrated experience with industrial or government construction projects.
- Current Security + Certification.
