The Senior Software Engineer designs, builds, and deploys software solutions to resolve specific business functions in support of Cable One's delivery of Voice, Data and Video products and services to its customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set forth below is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities (or "essential functions") of this position.
- Develops software solutions requested by and in participation with Cable One residential and Business Services divisions using Agile Scrum development methodologies.
- Create core provisioning systems enabling customers to receive CABLE ONE products and services
- Develop customer diagnostic tools aiding call center and field technicians in service troubleshooting.
- Manage and resolve issues in Cable ONE's in house software applications, databases, APIs, infrastructure, and networks.
- Review and utilize business requirements to establish technical solution designs and documentation for applications.
- Participate in bi-weekly code review/design sessions with Development Team to outline deliverables and tasks needed to accomplish business objectives.
- Prepares design and transition documents in support of QA and Software Support testing and support needs.
- Provides documentation and trains the product software support team for solution deployments into production environments.
- Identify process and application improvements to automate manual tasks to alleviate customer pain points.
- Provides training and guidance to Software Support and entry to mid level engineers

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training in application development using Java programming language, .NET or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other specific experience requirements include:
- 2+ years in large scale integrated multi system environments
- 3+ building and supporting enterprise web services.
- 3+ years working within Agile and Waterfall SDLC.
- 3+ years in Database technologies such as Microsoft SQLServer 2022 or Oracle.
- 3+ years working with Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Prefer advanced certification in Java SE, J2EE and C# programming languages.
- Prefer intermediate certification in application server technologies such as IIS, JBOSS, Tomcat 7 & 8., Springboot
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- This position requires 10% business travel.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Visio.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be a self-starter with sound problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be flexible and a team player.
- Prefer working knowledge in Jenkins, Git, TFS, Maven RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes and Docker container technologies.
