About the Job
We're looking for a transformational software engineering leader to join our Finance, Actuarial, and Accounting IT leadership team. In this role, you’ll provide formal team leadership and drive the delivery of scalable software solutions by leading the design and development efforts dedicated to these domains within Benefits and Protection. The team is focused on integrating existing systems and building modern, user friendly, efficient and scalable solutions. These initiatives range widely from improving the customer experience to providing them with insightful data solutions that enhance decision making.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence by balancing best practices in software design and development with a pragmatic approach to delivering impactful business outcomes
- Translate business challenges into technology opportunities by working closely with finance, accounting, and actuarial stakeholders to understand priorities and deliver impactful solutions
- Collaborate with product management and business partners to find opportunities for technical innovation and deliver solutions that drive business decision-making
- Drive technical design decisions that balance scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Encourage, inspire and motivate employees in support of their continued growth; lead daily stand up meetings and ask curious questions to challenge the team to create meaningful change

Who You Are:- Associate's or Bachelor's degree with a preference in a science, technology, engineering, or math related field or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of technology and/or engineering experience
- Experience coaching and enabling engineering teams and individuals
- Excellent verbal/written communication, facilitation/presentation, problem solving, analytical, delegation and decision making skills
- Ability to work with multi-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners at all levels
- Desire to learn new technology and motivate others to do the same
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
- Formal leadership experience, managing a team of engineers
- Experience working in a financial, accounting or actuary product environment
- Engineering experience with AWS and Snowflake
