A global automotive company is seeking a Sr. Research Scientist for research and engineering activities in quantum computing (QC). As the inaugural member of our quantum computing team, you will spearhead both research and application, setting the stage for the company's advancements in this cutting-edge field. This position is ideal for candidates who are ready to work independently, initiate new projects, and drive collaborations with external partners. This position requires research and engineering skills, solid knowledge in computer science and areas of mathematics related to quantum computing. Previous experience in developing and deploying quantum computing software in hybrid or standalone context is a big plus.
Responsibilities:
- This hands-on position requires self-directed and motivated individuals who will be a part of the research staff with responsibilities that include:
- Lead and explore the direction of research and engineering in QC
- Help establish collaboration with external partners. Conduct ongoing scientific and engineering project activities for established collaborations.
- Challenge the gap between quantum computing reality and applications
- Thoroughly investigate and understand QC possibilities and apply selected algorithms to applications. Create PoC systems to demonstrate QC capabilities.
- Participate in QC and hybrid system software engineering activities such as algorithm design, system architecture, requirements analysis, quality improvement and performance evaluation.
- Proactively expand QC applicability across domains based on keen insights from ongoing industry developments.
Required Skillset:
- Deep principled and algorithmic knowledge in Quantum Computing
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Exposure and solid understanding of QC languages and platforms such as Qiskit, Braket, Cirq.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering software that requires advanced knowledge in mathematics such as tensor calculus, complex algebra, numerical simulation
- PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field
Bonus Skillset:
- Exposure to quantum computing cloud platforms such as IBM Quantum, AWS Braket, Google Quantum AI.
- Exposure or experience with multiple quantum programming paradigms, such as circuit-based and quantum annealing.
- Knowledge of quantum machine learning libraries such as PennyLane.
