As a Senior Accounts Payable Accountant, you will collaborate closely with the Accounting Leadership Team and engage with external vendors, focusing on project-based accounts payable initiatives. This role is essential for managing relationships with third-party suppliers and interacting with teams across Financial Planning & Analysis and Treasury.
Key Responsibilities:
Take charge of vendor enrollment and the processing of accounts payable invoices related to the construction of energy storage projects.
Manage 1099 processing and setup of W9s.
Lead the accounts payable financial reporting tasks including maintenance of accounting journals and ledgers, and managing vendor payment terms.
Oversee project contract accounting requirements, prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements, and support financial audits.
Direct the accounting processes for sales tax and use tax related to accounts payable.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
Proven experience in managing AP systems for project development in sectors like EPC, construction, and service contracts.
Proficiency in financial accounting software such as QuickBooks or NetSuite.
Preferred: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant).
Strong skills in vendor management and invoice processing.
Proficient in MS Excel, capable of writing macros/VBA, performing data queries, and creating pivot tables.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to stakeholders.
Prior experience in financial reporting and accounting for EPC or construction operations highly desirable.
Knowledge of the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, battery storage) is a plus but not required.
Familiarity with national energy power market tariffs and incentives beneficial.
