DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and maintain plant quality assurance plans, procedures, work instructions, forms, specifications and establish quality standards for products and processes.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze vendor quality level information and prepare reports on a monthly basis. Recommend and drive improvements as identified.
- Work with purchasing to identify potential new vendors and review the vendor’s quality system and manufacturing process capability.
- Work with purchasing to establish /negotiate vendor warranty agreements. Negotiate warranty issues with vendors.
- Establish and provide training programs for the range of quality assurance operations throughout all levels of the organization and assist in the application of statistical and other quality control techniques (Pareto charts) for other management functions as needed.
- Analyze manufacturing, customer feedback and vendor problems. Work with vendors to correct quality issues as they are identified. Make recommendations and lead the efforts through completion to eliminate current and future problems.
- Utilize and instruct others in the theory and application of GD&T methods to analyze tolerances, specifications, dimensions and reliability characteristics of products. Recommend design changes to ensure compatibility of product performance requirements with manufacturing process capability.
- Work with manufacturing engineering /engineering to make process improvements that achieve process control and maintain quality.
- Perform routine audits of the plant quality system to ensure compliance with plant quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Generates appropriations for capital expenditures and assists the quality manager in departmental budget preparation.
- Work with Engineering and Purchasing to identify and test potential cost reduction/quality improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, engineering or quality assurance/quality control, or 4-5years experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of machining processes is a plus.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environment, good working knowledge of GD & T (ANSI Y14.5 – 1994), knowledge of ISO –9001. ASQ certification a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, good Mechanical/Electrical problem-solving skills, ability to interpret blueprint and wiring diagrams, Excellent Microsoft Excel spread sheet skills, good Word and MS Office skills
