Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 (annual)
Responsibilities
As a Senior Property Accountant, you are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the financial, accounting and reporting functions for an assigned complex portfolio of properties. You will also be responsible for reconciling property bank accounts, subsidiary ledgers and control accounts, preparing annual budget data, annual tax or audit workpapers, and ensuring all required regulatory/jurisdictional filings are completed. In this role, you will enjoy a collaborative learning environment where your skills and experiences will be utilized and maximized for both the benefit of the Company and for your own professional development.
In the area of Monthly Statements, you will review property income and expenses and communicate discrepancies, variances or questions with the Property Manager; create and maintain prepaid/accrual schedules and journalize as required; post monthly closing entries; review and reconcile Rent Roll balances, deposits, bank statements and management fees calculations.
In the area of Fiduciary Responsibility, you will work with the Property Managers to ensure property cash accounts are maintained at a positive level; coordinate the funding of escrow and reserve accounts; monitor expenses and property investments; pro-actively identify the need for capital calls or requests for funding.
In the area of Financial Reporting, you will prepare financial reports, year-end and audit workpapers; assist property auditors with year-end audits and reports; remit quarterly and year-end reporting requirements to lenders.
Qualifications
To be successful in this position, you should have: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, as well as a minimum of 4 years of property management accounting and real estate experience. CPA designation is preferred, but not required. Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook, Property Management software (MRI or Yardi) is required. Excellent time management, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills. Must have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
