We are looking for a Sr. Project Engineer - ME IV to join our team in our Loveland, CO office. JFT will accept applications until this position is filled.
Job Function:
The Sr. Project Engineer - ME IV provides team leadership and supervises the development of engineering solutions throughout the project life cycle.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead a team of design engineers of various disciplines to produce innovative solutions for hazardous environments. Be accountable for all technical aspects of design, analysis, production, manufacturing and delivery of projects within a squad. Act as the primary technical point of contact to customers on all projects within a squad.
Bring design concepts to life by developing them into effective engineering solutions with minimal oversight. Produce manufacturing detail drawings incorporating limits and fits, welding symbols, geometric tolerances and surface finish. Check and approve detailed part and assembly drawings, as well as full engineering calculations to support designs. Produce, review, and approve technical reports, documents, and files assuring they align with contract and quality requirements. Specify components/systems based on calculations and relevant practical experience. Champion cost-saving innovations to reduce design times.
In addition, mentor team members on standards, techniques, and best practices. Support change control, handle contract scope variations, and collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines as part of a cohesive design team. Provide project engineering leads and managers with technical support and enforce adherence to processes and procedures. Contribute to business development efforts with insightful input for new quotes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering with at least 10 years of design experience and 3 years in a technical leadership role.
- Nuclear or high hazardous remote special purpose machinery design experience and knowledge of nuclear design procedures a plus.
- Professional Engineer or working towards achieving.
- Experience with calculations (FEA, stress/fatigue/vibration analysis) preferred.
- Knowledge of drawing principles and standards including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, as well as familiarity with EFD'S, P&ID's and MFD's.
- Working knowledge of complex mechanical equipment and fabrications, manufacturing techniques, materials and processes.
- Skilled in both 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D design (Inventor and Vault system/SolidWorks) software packages.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and NQA-1 Quality Assurance Programs and EH&S legislation.
- Possess basic business acumen and commercial awareness.
- This position may require the incumbent to work with export-controlled items.
Typical Working Conditions:
Primarily an office environment with work periodically performed in the fabrication/machine shop and outdoor testing areas. Depending on the project, there may be occasional travel to customer job sites. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and use standard office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers, and vendors is essential. May occasionally lift and carry items, typically under 50 pounds. At times, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing and crawling to access and inspect equipment is required.
