POSITION OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
The Sr. Program Manager – Pedaling for Parkinson’s™ position is an upper-level position within the Foundation's community engagement department. This role spends much of its time focused on strategy, growth, and networking for our national Pedaling for Parkinson’s Program. This role ensures all program activities are designed to maximize participant impact and scale to reach a broad audience. As well, this role provides oversight to ensure programs are executed to reach goals and be best-in-class.
The Davis Phinney Foundation is a hybrid workplace, however this job may be performed remotely and is open to anyone within the United States.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Pedaling for Parkinson’s™ program is based on research indicating that forced exercise on a bicycle can reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s. Participants who ride three days a week over eight weeks have shown improvement in their Parkinson’s-related symptoms by as much as 35%. Most programs are offered on indoor, stationary bikes and hosted at local YMCAs, gyms, or other community spaces. The program is currently offered in-person in 90 facilities across the US as well as online through Zoom six days a week. We aim to grow the program to 300 facilities over the next 3 years as well as expand online offerings to impact 10,000 riders annually by 2028.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership:
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable members of the program team, contractors, and/or other collaborators.
- Lead creation and execution of strategy, processes, and goals for the Pedaling for Parkinson’s program and contribute to overall strategy of organization’s community-based programs.
- Engage with Foundation leadership team on key issues including employee feedback, key processes, relevant decision-making, change-management, and overall Foundation strategy.
Program Execution and Success:
- Build awareness of and participation in program by networking, developing partnerships, and participating in relevant groups, coalitions, event, etc.
- In collaboration with development team, help to identify, shape, solicit for, and report on funding opportunities for assigned program.
- Guide participant support strategy and provide coaching and mentorship for program participants both 1:1 and through trainings, professional development, resource development, and more.
- Collect and utilize participant feedback towards continuous improvement and development of assigned program
- Take a lead role in the ongoing evaluation of impact, efficacy, efficiency, and opportunities of assigned program
- In collaboration with Director of Programs and Community Impact, create and manage annual program budget.
Community Engagement and Networking:
- Take a lead role in forming and engaging relevant advisory teams, growing participation, and facilitating group meetings and initiatives.
- Contribute to overall impact and evaluation strategy for organization’s community-based programs.
- In collaboration with Director of Programs and Community Impact, ensure that the Foundation’s programs are inclusive and accessible to diverse communities, including both English-speaking and Hispanic communities in the US and abroad.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience with program strategy and the ability to turn ideas into action
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, foster, and maintain important relationship with key stakeholders
- Experience creating and managing a program budget
- Experience contributing to revenue generation for community programs in a non-profit setting
- Positive, outgoing personality, and demonstrated ability to collaborate with others in a respectful and empowering way
- Experience with designing and implement training programs or ongoing education for adults
- Experience with conceiving and implementing effective program assessment
- Experience managing and/or mentoring others a plus
- High emotional intelligence and ability to listen, interpret, and respond to information from others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly, persuasively and accurately
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Office 365 application
- Proficient in donor database, preferably Blackbaud CRM
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
- 8 years or more experience in community organizing, public health, community health programs, or other relevant field required
- Knowledge of community health, healthcare organizations, and Parkinson’s are highly desired

- Standard office environment, whether remote, in-person, or hybrid
- Regular interaction with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace if working remotely
TRAVEL
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings, conferences, events, or community engagement activities
- Ability to travel to various locations for event coordination, speaking engagements, and community outreach
WORK HOURS:
- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate various time zones, events, and deadlines
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet the demands of the role
