Sr Principal System Administrator(SME) in infrastructure Workplace Services, collaborate with a diverse team to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.
What You Will Do:
- As a Windows Subject Matter Expert (SME), possessing in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, with extensive experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Windows Server, Desktop, and Virtual OSs on a large-scale enterprise network whose systems are operational 24x7x365.
- You will have a deep understanding and proficiency of Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy and integrated services.
- Play a crucial role in building, hardening, and sustaining the reliability and security of the Windows-based server and desktop infrastructures and virtual environments.
- Collaborate and partner across Digital Technology and program(s), to deliver cost effective software and hardware solutions that meet current and future needs while following industry best practices.
- Integrate and partner with customer(s), engineers, storage architects, system administrators, network engineering, tools and high-performance computing teams to solve complex infrastructure problems.
- Assure a high level of reliability and performance through systems monitoring and infrastructure management and a deep understanding of Windows performance requirements.
- Monitor and maintain the entire system lifecycle to include hardware and software refreshes and updates, licensing, and maintenance/support agreements while taking a leadership role in efforts to budget, order, and implement replacements.
- Develop and maintain technical and operational documentation (including procedures) to continually improve Windows infrastructure and services.
- Ensure compliance with security requirements (DFARS, RMF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).
- Respond to service and support requests from users, ensuring all work is tracked and documented while delivering world class customer service.
- Attend and/or lead regularly scheduled meetings to foster a high level of collaboration, while creating, delivering, and briefing updates and status reports to Digital Technology and Program leadership as necessary.
- Assist in developing the overall performance, capability and success of other system administrators through mentoring and knowledge sharing, and detailed documentation.
- Work full time in an on-site position, inside a closed area.
- Support occasional efforts (planned and unplanned) that may require work beyond and outside standard work hours.
- Up to 10% travel
- Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or a master’s degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Experience with Microsoft Windows
- Experience with Active Directory design and implementation
- Experience managing Users and Groups, including permissions to ensure secure and efficient access to network resources.
- Experience with secure system configurations, application settings, and user experiences across the network.
- Experience with troubleshooting DT issues
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience managing backup and recovery
- Subject matter expert implementing Security and Compliance controls to protect against unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies
- Advanced technical writing skills to include creating a comprehensive knowledge base for Active Directory configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, communication (written and oral), collaboration, and organizational skills
- Extensive experience managing ADDS, DFS, WDS, WSUS, MECM/SCCM, MDT, PXE, PKI, and Kerberos.
- Experience with Linux and Windows integration tools (Centrify, Samba, SSSD, NIS).
- Experience with virtualization, VMWare vCenter, vSphere, Horizon, and ESXi and/or other virtual computing methods.
- Experience with compliance assessment, vulnerability, and auditing tools (ACAS, Splunk, Nessus, SCAP, STIG, Ivanti).
- Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds).
- Experience with Microsoft IIS, SQL, Skype, and Exchange.
- Experience with cloud, hybrid-cloud, and cloud solution technologies.
- Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC).
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Perl, Bash, Python, and C Languages).
- Experience with automation tools/frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, GitLab, Gitlab Runner).
- Experience with developer tools (Git, Artifactory, Bitbucket, CI/CD tools, Jira).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Docker Desktop, Kubernetes, PODMAN Desktop).
- Experience with Agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts.
- Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
- Experience with using Information Technology in both the project and software development lifecycle management processes.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
