What You Will Do
As a Senior Packaging Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert in the design, use and application of flexible packaging for our consumer-packaged goods business. You will be responsible for:
- Driving the flexible packaging formulation design with our supply partners
- Developing a fundamental understanding of our flexible packaging design formulations and their operating windows within the manufacturing environment, especially with product, equipment, and transportation interactions
- Designing flexible packaging that meet our functional, performance, aesthetic, and consumer experience expectations
- Developing close relationships and partnerships with our flexible packaging suppliers and converters, while ensuring consistent performance, quality, and supply of our packaging materials
- Working cross-functionally and with our OEM partners to design and implement new packaging equipment and lines that generate value and future growth opportunities
- Being the key point of contact for flexible packaging related issues within the manufacturing network, and leading efforts to troubleshoot and solve packaging related production challenges
- Driving cross-functional leadership and knowledge of sustainable technologies that will advance the position of Georgia-Pacific
- This position will report into the consumer products packaging organization working closely with category/brand leadership, supply chain, external suppliers, manufacturing, product development, and sourcing teams. Location of this position will be ideally based out of our Atlanta, GA HQ or our Neenah, WI R&D Technical Center and will require up to 25% travel.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Familiar with packaging converting equipment, packaging substrates, sustainability, and innovation
- 5-10 years of related work experiences
- Experience working with consumer packaged goods (CPG)
- Expertise in flexible film & paperboard packaging development
- Knowledge of palletization & ArtiosCAD software
What Will Put You Ahead
- B.S. in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field/experience• Experience in the household paper products industry, especially manufacturing
- Experience in the flexible packaging supplier and/or converting industry
- Project management leadership and experience
- Desire to be a life-long learner and drive transformation
