**PAY RANGE**
The Target Pay Range for this position is $44.09-$53.89 hourly. The full Pay Range is $34.24-$63.75 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. **IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:**
As a Senior Mortgage Loan Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial success of our members while safeguarding their assets. Your expertise will empower you to make consistent, high-quality loan decisions on conventional, FHA/VA, and specialized mortgage loan programs. By offering innovative solutions, you'll ensure compliance with underwriting standards and align member needs with their financial goals. Your contributions will directly influence the security and quality of our loan portfolio, while fostering member trust and loyalty.
**WHAT YOU'LL DO:**
+ **Perform Prudent Underwriting:** Review and evaluate conventional, FHA/VA, and specialized mortgage loans to ensure compliance with BECU and investor guidelines.
+ **Analyze Loan Files:** Conduct thorough assessments of loan packages, developing counteroffers and alternative solutions to meet member needs while maintaining underwriting standards.
+ **Ensure Quality:** Evaluate credit packages and collateral to deliver investment-grade loan products, confirming accurate calculations for income, loan-to-value ratios, and more.
+ **Collaborate on Complex Cases:** Partner with the Underwriting Manager for loan dispositions exceeding authorized lending authority, ensuring sound decision-making.
+ **Provide Clear Communication:** Convey underwriting decisions in writing to processors and offer guidance on guidelines and loan-specific queries to Loan Origination staff.
+ **Support Member-Centric Solutions:** Handle member inquiries, resolving challenges to align CU and member interests effectively.
+ **Mentor and Train:** Assist in training underwriters, processors, and loan representatives to build a high-performing team.
+ **Stay Informed:** Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending guidelines, regulatory changes, and market trends to ensure compliance and adaptability.
+ **Enhance Processes:** Document and update procedures, participate in the development of new products, and ensure the team's alignment with organizational goals.
+ **Clear Conditions:** Manage property and credit conditions required for loan approvals, ensuring smooth processing and adherence to standards.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ B.A. or B.S. degree in business or equivalent education or work experience required.
+ Minimum of five years of underwriting experience required.
+ Experience in leadership capacity (non-people management) required. ie-mentoring or giving direction to peers.
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ FHA DE and/or VA SAR designations highly preferred.
+ Proficient mathematical skills, with a high degree of accuracy.
+ Ability to perform complex income analysis.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex tax returns, including corporate, partnerships, and sub-s corporations.
+ Ability to perform under pressure in a team environment.
+ Effective leadership & negotiation skills.
+ Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate.
+ Ability to perform in a multi-tasked environment, with ability to prioritize tasks.
+ Ability to work in high production, deadline oriented environment.
+ Ability to adapt to change within working responsibilities, be it internal, market, or regulatory driven.
