Senior Mortgage Underwriter
Job Summary:
As a Senior Mortgage Underwriter, you play a pivotal role in assessing the eligibility of loan applicants. Your responsibilities include meticulously verifying applicant information, such as credit scores and documentation, to ensure alignment with loan parameters. Collaborating closely with loan originators or production staff, you'll ensure the accuracy and completeness of loan documentation. Additionally, you may collaborate with other senior mortgage underwriters to address loan exceptions and have the authority to withdraw or decline loans. Your role may encompass various types of mortgage lending, and you may interface directly with individual and investor audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhering to mortgage product guidelines.
- Providing underwriting expertise and training to production staff on specialized products.
- Upholding the highest levels of regulatory compliance to minimize loan defects while surpassing production metrics.
- Developing, implementing, and upholding quality standards in line with company policies and investor guidelines.
- Efficiently managing pipeline, reporting project timelines, and outcomes.
- Reviewing quality control reports and executing necessary action plans.
- Cultivating a positive work environment by embracing resolution-oriented problem-solving and identifying opportunities for process enhancements and system efficiencies.
- Analyzing mortgage loans for compliance with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and Rural Development guidelines.
- Ensuring the accuracy of all loan documentation.
- Clearly communicating decisions and justifications to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Residential Mortgage Underwriting.
- Conventional Agency experience is essential, with preferred exposure to Non-Conforming, Jumbo, FHA, VA, and Bond Programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in customer service, decision-making, and data analysis.
- Outstanding organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in pipeline management and system-supported workflows.
- Strong understanding of multiple investor guidelines and regulatory compliance.

Salary: $ 40,000.00 140,000.00 Per Year
