Sr Mfg Engineer - Controls Engineering - General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems

Summary: 

Plans, designs and constructs manufacturing facilities and related structures. Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources and structural design. Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements 

• Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. 
• Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.  
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.  
• Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.  
• Confers with vendors in order todetermine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts.  
• Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards. 

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in engineering or other engineering related degree
• 5-7 years experience relevant to the positions functional area

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or other engineering related degree 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to work as part of a team
• Must be proficient in PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting. (PLC 5, SLC, Micrologix, ControlLogix, Panelview)
  • Allen Bradley preferred
• Ability to read control system drawings (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) and assist technicians with troubleshooting these systems.
• Individual would be responsible for providing control system designs (safety circuits, communication networks, panel design, hardware selection, etc.) and providing technicians with drawings and material for internal projects.
• Vision system experience preferred (Keyence IV, CV, XG series)
• Robot experience preferred. Primarily responsible for existing program modification and troubleshooting. (Fanuc, Epson)
• High level of electrical knowledge required with a working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Other Requirements:

• Proficiency with MS Office tools
