Senior Mechanical Engineer – Central Energy Systems
Location: Hybrid (New York City – 347 West 36th St, Suite 80, New York, NY, 10018)
Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses

Role Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will oversee and manage mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion, focusing on central energy plants and chilled water systems. Collaborating closely with leadership, this role includes mentoring junior engineers, driving innovation, and ensuring successful project delivery on time, within scope, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Develop load models, capacity plans, and equipment specifications for central energy systems.
- Provide technical expertise in plant design, hydronic systems, and temperature control systems.
- Scope and execute system upgrades and new designs while adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers to enhance team capabilities and foster professional growth.
- Collaborate with leadership to refine and improve project management processes.
- Actively contribute to achieving the company’s 20% year-over-year growth objectives.
Performance Objectives (First 6 Months)
- Deliver projects with no more than a 10% overrun on budgets or schedules.
- Maintain a maximum rework rate of 5% on delivered projects.
- Build trust with at least one existing client account.
- Implement process improvements within the design group.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 10+ years of project experience in mechanical systems design for built environments.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., Pipe-Flo, Fathom AFT) and load modeling software (e.g., Trane Trace 700, IESVE, eQUEST).
- Expertise in AutoCAD and Bluebeam PDF software.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design/build processes, and construction management.
