Position Summary:We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager for micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). Your primary responsibilities will include leading the team in the design for manufacturing (DFM), supplier management, developing MEMS assembly processes and procedures, developing material qualification plans, and monitoring internal and external (supplier) quality. You will also work closely with the Design Team to ensure a repeatable design that can consistently meet Customer, Quality, and Cost objectives. This position will be instrumental in scaling our MEMS technology from prototype to high volume production, and has potential to grow into a Director level role for company-wide manufacturing operations.
The position is full-time, on-site in Boston, and available to be filled immediately.
Responsibilities:Lead a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians responsible for the production of MEMS components and scaling that team to ramp up to high throughput
Manage current manufacturing and lab facilities and develop plans for new facilities required to meet production targets; work with Directors to inform budgetary requirements for facility expansion
Develop internal manufacturing processes, procedures, and product ?ows in conjunction with research and design engineers and technicians
Be responsible for process qualification, quality, and supplier development aspects of our propulsion technology during product and process development cycles
Serve as primary technical contact with external manufacturers de?ning quality requirements, performing ?rst article inspections, and working through design feedback and DFM inputs from suppliers with the Engineering team
Support our team of technicians building production and R&D assemblies, providing training, guidance, and assistance with process issues and non-conformances
Work to manufacturing schedule to meet production needs
Conduct auditing and reporting performance against processes
Coordinate with engineers at multiple facilities who are performing steps in the process
Assist with integration of MEMS components into complex electromechanical systems
Perform DFM reviews of designs and verify against IPC and Contract Manufacturers' guidelines
Ensure all design output ?les (ODB, Schematics, BOM, etc) meet standards
Generate ECOs, perform BOM comparisons, update Approved Vendor List information, within our ECO management system
Develop Supplier Quali?cation Audit Process and perform on-site audits of Contract Manufacturers and major component suppliers
Drive product design and manufacturing process quality improvements
Work with multiple New Product Introduction, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Service groups to resolve Supplier Quality issues to ensure on-time delivery of products
Perform First Article Inspection and Cosmetic Quali?cation of vendor supplied parts as required
Inform Quality and Reliability Metrics and Requirements during development of supplier purchasing agreements and contracts
Required Qualifications
Describe the required experience and attributes of the ideal candidateBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or similar.15+ years of experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment
Strong DFM (Design for manufacturing) experience
Understands integration of complex MEMS assemblies
Experience in aerospace, medical devices, or a similar industry with precision design and high reliability
Experience in scaling from prototype to high-rate production
Experience in Supplier Quality Management
Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 quality standards
Lean manufacturing background with a history of hands-on manufacturing involvement
Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including operating and maintaining production equipment
Work well under pressure and in a fast-paced work environment
Strong organization and time management skills
Experience working with various materials and fabrication processes

Space or flight hardware experience
Knowledge of the IPC Standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, J-STD-001)
Experience with production in a clean-room environment
Implementation of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) management program
Handling of parts with Electro-static Discharge
Familiarity with work-flow optimization frameworks (example: 5S)
