Alliance Resource Group is partnered with a leading organization in the Orange County area who is looking for a Payroll Director to oversee the multi-state payroll policies and functions. This position is crucial to the overall success of the organization and will have a very high level of visibility in the company.

- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in accordance with multi-state regulations.
- Manage a team of payroll specialists and coordinators to ensure the accuracy and timely processing of all payroll functions in accordance with company policies. The Manager, Payroll will assist the payroll specialist and coordinators with their work as needed.
- Execute monthly payroll close duties including preparation of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and flux analysis for all payroll accounts and processes. The payroll manager will work closely with the accounting department to ensure these duties are performed.
- Respond to state and local agency inquiries and resolve issues accordingly. Be the lead in all state payroll audits.
- Oversee the implementation of Workday's Payroll management system
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries and issues, providing expert guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws and regulations across various states, and ensure company compliance with new requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including HR and Accounting/Finance, to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPP) is a plus.
- Proven experience in payroll management, with at least 8 years in a leadership roles.
- In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work will within a deadline driven environment
- Ability to perform functions efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision
