ROLE SUMMARY
As a Senior Manager, you will play a strategic role in project execution, primarily focusing on integrating, protecting, and controlling Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and PV. The role will ensure adherence to quality, cost, and schedule requirements while prioritizing safety and compliance with industry standards. You will evaluate storage technologies concerning project goals, including modules, DC components, inverters, racking, BESS containers, BESS balance of plant equipment, and medium voltage systems. Your responsibilities will also include electrical design with single-line schematics, circuit diagram design, and component selection for AC and DC electrical systems. Additionally, you'll review and incorporate electrical studies such as ampacity studies, load flow, reactive power capability, short circuits, grounding, and Arc flash. You'll conduct site investigations and inspections, coordinating design and planning electrical tests on BESS or its subsystems at the test bench or on-site. Documentation, instrumentation, and coordination of tests, writing test reports, and making necessary recommendations will be part of your duties. You'll also provide technical support to different departments involved in project advancement and implementation.
Your duties will involve reviewing proposals, contracts, and agreements to determine requirements and scope of work, and coordinating with internal and external engineering, construction, and commissioning teams. Additionally, you'll lead project development efforts for energy efficiency, distributed energy resources (DER), and microgrid projects by visiting customer sites, gathering relevant project information and data, conducting engineering analysis, developing project scopes, and preparing preliminary cost estimates. You'll also lead the procurement process for major electrical equipment by developing scopes of supply, issuing requests for proposals from vendors, responding to vendor questions, and evaluating proposals.
Furthermore, you'll provide oversight and technical review for third-party engineer-of-record’s (EOR) drawings and specifications related to microgrid architecture and control, solar PV, energy storage, and other DERs to ensure designs meet customer objectives and guaranteed performance. You'll lead the identification, evaluation, and selection of such third-party EOR. Ensuring project designs and implementation achieve guaranteed energy and performance metrics, meet customer requirements, and comply with industry standards, practices, specifications, and codes will also be part of your responsibilities. You'll provide engineering support during construction by responding to subcontractor questions, visiting construction sites to confirm implementation by design intent and specifications, and reviewing and approving submittals for electrical and control equipment such as generation equipment, battery energy storage systems, transformers, switchgear, switches, and relays. Supporting the commissioning, start-up, and testing of electrical systems and equipment, developing commissioning and performance verification plans, witnessing and signing off on field execution of such plans by subcontractors, and reviewing system performance data via SCADA and Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) to verify and troubleshoot system performance will also be part of your role. Lastly, you'll review utility interconnection, including reviewing application data, system studies, and interconnection agreement language.
This role requires multiple hands-on BESS experiences, deploying at least 10MW of deployments. Additionally, this role entails mentoring and building fast-paced project engineers team in the USA and Canada and being willing to travel nationwide as required.
