Job Summary:
This manager of contracts will report to the Executive Director, Corporate Counsel and provide general legal support to the Legal Department and various related business teams relating to a breadth of complex legal and compliance topics specific to a fast-paced biotechnology. This position will closely collaborate with members of the Legal and Finance functions and various colleagues across the organization to effectively build, maintain and streamline internal processes and provide paralegal type services across the company.
This position is based in our Woburn office and welcomes hybrid work! Local candidates are expected to be on-site 2 days per week.

Description of Core Responsibilities
This is a dynamic and important role in the legal function of a high-growth biotech company as we rapidly progress toward a first potential commercial product launch. The successful candidate will provide company wide support on all contracting and related matters.
Key Factors for Success
Vendor Contracting Support
- Assist end-to-end with the vendor engagement process, including contract drafting and review, negotiation, signature and onboarding.
- Serve as a main point of contact for certain business stakeholders across the organization and the finance department.
- Help manage the queue of pending contract review requests and provide regular updates of vendor contract deadlines, auto-renewals and projected expirations to legal department and relevant business stakeholders.
- Assist in maintaining and updating a library of standard documents, contract clauses, and templates relevant to the vendor contract process.
- Coordinate communications and activities with business stakeholders, e.g., members of the Commercial, Compliance, IT, Finance, Medical and Regulatory Affairs teams.
- Assist with maintaining and expanding the functionality of the vendor contract database management system.
- Assist with other department needs such as onboarding new vendors, assisting employees in all aspects of the contracting process, collaborate with colleagues in Finance, assist in special legal and other projects as they arise from time to time.
General Legal and Compliance Support
- Conduct legal and compliance related tasks in support of other legal department needs as assigned.
- Provide other support to legal department from time to time, such as, securing and maintaining state pharmacy board licenses, completing annual reports, and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant legal education.
- Paralegal Certificate or time-in-role.
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of legal experience, in-house corporate experience is preferred, law firm experience will be considered.
- Significant experience with a contract management or database systems.
- Familiarity with biopharmaceutical/life science industry is preferred.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with contract drafting experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, med-tech, and/or law firm setting who possess an understanding of commercial transactions and legal issues relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Notary Public a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong work ethic and ability to manage large workload, focus on critical priorities, and otherwise effectively meet internal legal needs and deadlines directly.
- Proven ability to build relationships across functions and sites and inspires trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/projects.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) with an ability to communicate legal issues in a clear and understandable manner.
- A strong sense of professionalism and discretion.
- Enthusiastic to learning new subject matters and eager to support a dynamic and high-growth biotech.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiasm and self-starter qualities, and ability to manage responsibilities with an appropriate sense of urgency.
