Senior Project Manager - Low Voltage Systems
Overview
Join us as a Senior Project Manager, focusing on fire alarm, access control, and camera systems. You will be responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome for several small to medium projects or one very large project. You will lead and manage a team of project managers and assistant project managers to deliver exceptional results for our clients. This position also involves proactively developing new business opportunities and fostering relationships with current and potential customers.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policies. Ensure concise work statements for the field.
- Team Supervision: Effectively supervise staff in the day-to-day administration of projects or supervise multiple project managers in their daily tasks.
- Training: Train and effectively supervise project managers in the company's philosophy and systems.
- Change Management: Negotiate and supervise the preparation of all change orders on the project.
- Project Tracking: Maintain all logs required to track the progress of the project and train project assistants in maintaining project tracking devices.
- Client Liaison: Maintain a liaison with prime clients and architects/engineers to facilitate construction activities.
- Construction Monitoring: Monitor construction activities with onsite foremen and area superintendents to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.
- Problem Solving: Investigate serious situations and implement corrective measures within company guidelines and supervision.
- Representation: Represent the company/project in meetings with clients, subcontractors, etc.
- Financial Management: Prepare monthly costing reports and manage the financial aspects of contracts, including progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses.
- Collaboration: Foster a collaborative spirit within the team and with multiple stakeholders to achieve mutual outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience: Extensive experience managing electrical construction projects, specifically in fire alarm, access control, and camera systems.
- Project Accountability: Initiative for all aspects of the project and its success.
- Problem Solving: Creative problem-solving skills and experience in resolving project challenges.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction, and related technologies.
- Innovation: Determination about planning, innovating, and improving processes.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills, business acumen, and integrity.
- Financial Acumen: Understanding of project financials and forecasting.
- Relationship Building: Ability to create and foster great relationships with the field team and understand what it takes to get the best out of your people.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to achieve mutual outcomes.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Certifications: PE license is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience in project management, preferably in electrical construction.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); experience with Oracle and Accubid preferred.
- Safety Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
- Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position.
- Professionalism: Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance.
- Teamwork: Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, staff, vendors, clients, and others.
