Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Sr Linux Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in supporting a Global Government Client. This role is onsite with potential for a hybrid schedule in Washington, DC. The Sr Linux Principal Systems Engineer will integrate Linux systems into a Windows environment.
Responsibilities of the Sr Linux Principal Systems Engineer:
- Enterprise Authorization: Integrate Linux systems (RHEL 7/8, Ubuntu) into a Windows environment controlled by Active Directory with PKI certificates and Single Sign-On.
- Enterprise Provisioning: Configure new Linux systems to meet enterprise baselines and controls, ensuring proper agents and configurations are installed.
- System Integration: Integrate Linux systems with enterprise tools (ACAS, Splunk, SolarWinds, Backup systems) and maintain patches in a heavily automated manner.
- Compliance Management: Ensure provisioned Linux systems remain compliant with baseline requirements and enterprise policies, similar to Group Policy in Windows.
- Operational Planning: Develop an operating system lifecycle plan incorporating DoD STIGs and other security standards, and monitor solutions via centralized alerting and log management systems.
Necessary Qualifications for the Sr Linux Principal Systems Engineer:
- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; relevant experience may be substituted for formal education.
- Professional Experience: 15+ years of experience in supporting complex projects.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in VMWare management/administration, with extensive experience in RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar systems. Must obtain DoD Instruction 8570 Level II Certification within 6 months of starting.
- Skills and Attributes: Highly self-motivated, capable of working independently, and skilled in conducting extensive research and development as needed.
Compensation for the Sr Linux Principal Systems Engineer:
- Salary: $180k-$225k (dependent on experience)
