Location Description:Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products.Responsibilities:JOB SUMMARY:
This position requires an advanced understanding of industrial electrical systems, and expert troubleshooting abilities as well as experience in leading complex electrical projects. The Senior Industrial Electrician’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, equipment breakdowns, installation and startups, process improvements, preventative/precision maintenance programs and continuous improvements activities i.e. increasing machine reliability and installation of facility capital investments. Candidate will perform specified electrical work to code regulations.
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex industrial electrical systems and equipment, in an electrical setting.
- Take ownership of diagnosing and troubleshooting critical electrical issues, ensuring rapid and reliable solutions to maintain continuous operation.
- Interpret and apply advanced technical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and capital project installations/revisions.
- Oversee the execution of electrical preventative maintenance programs, with an emphasis on minimizing downtime and ensuring the longevity of electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with all electrical codes, company standards, safety regulations; and to champion safe work practices across the team to include standard electrical safety training.
- Mentor and provide technical training to junior electricians, maintenance technicians, and electrical apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development.
- Lead cross-departmental collaborations, facilitating efficient project planning and completion to support site expansion projects.
- Maintain and oversee documentation of all work completed, including material usage and inventory management. This includes the storage of all electrical documentation management.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or advanced electrical training preferred.
- Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience in industrial electrical systems, including advanced PLCs, VFDs, and complex motor controls.
- Proven track record of troubleshooting and problem-solving in high-stakes, high-demand settings.
- Expertise in reading, interpreting, and executing from complex technical documents.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on mentorship, training, and team development.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to strict safety protocols to include LOTO, Flash Arc, and OSHA certifications and training.
- Maintenance or Electrical Program Management Experience preferred
