Position Summary:
The Sr. HR Business Partner provides strategic direction and tactical oversight of human resources for the axle manufacturing campus. We are looking for a highly experienced, driven HR Professional.
As the HR Leader of this large manufacturing site, you will be responsible for activities including but not limited to:
- Promoting the Company’s vision, mission, cultural principles, and commitment to safety and employee engagement through demonstrated actions, communications, and training and through leading by example.
- Managing implementation of and ongoing compliance to human resources policies and procedures to meet organizational needs and comply with local, state, and federal laws.
- Monitors state and local laws to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Developing and recommending policies and procedures to address plant human resources needs that are not covered within the scope of company-wide policies, including but not limited to policies related to state and local laws, hourly attendance and paid-time-off, shift hours and overtime, job bidding and job training.
- Consulting with plant management and HR team regarding human resources issues, company policies, and applicable laws.
- Seeks guidance and/or approval as needed.
- Maintaining satisfactory relations between management and employees, while ensuring protection of company interests and rights.
- Takes an active role in continually improving the effectiveness of the plant’s management and supervision staff as it relates to maintaining satisfactory employee relations.
- Advising management on employee and labor relations issues, including the consistent and effective administration of employee discipline.
- Ensuring satisfactory relations between management and organized labor, while assuring maintenance of management and union avoidance where applicable.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and legal requirements.
- Leading or participating in workforce investigations related to employee complaints and suspected misconduct.
- Participating in grievance responses and arbitration requests and participating in contract negotiations.
- Assists with union avoidance activities.
- Coordinating the plant’s staffing activities, including but not limited to recruitment, candidate screening and selection, hiring, and effective onboarding.
- Ensuring the plant’s recruitment and hiring activities are conducted in a manner consistent with company policies.
- Supporting Talent Acquisition in the hiring activities related to filling key salaried positions.
- Maintaining and managing administration of hourly employee compensation systems that are legally compliant, competitive, and aligned with company financial, hiring, and retention goals.
- Coordinating salaried performance management process and merit-based pay increases.
- Administering and supporting the health & welfare and retirement plans for the plant, including managing the open enrollment process and providing related employee education and support.
- Ensuring HR systems and records, including those related to personnel, compensation, and benefits are accurate and are maintained in an organized and legally compliant manner.
- Maintaining adherence to effective Workers' Compensation administration practices to assure the company provides timely and appropriate care and rehabilitation for work-related injuries and illnesses, while guarding against fraud and abuse.
- Developing and implementing effective and efficient training programs to meet plant goals and employee development needs.
- Participating in the delivery and administration of some training programs.
- Communicating with management and legal counsel regarding human resources related litigation as needed.
- Providing effective employee communications.
- Travels as needed to perform assigned duties.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Management, Organizational Leadership or a comparable discipline is a MUST.
- Minimum of 10 years direct supervisory/managerial experience; or an equivalent in combination of education and experience.
- The ideal candidate has previous experience leading HR in a large manufacturing environment.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of business, HR processes, and organizational processes.
- Understanding of applicable federal and state laws (FLSA, ADA/AA, NLRA, FMLA, ACA, etc.).
- Keen attention to detail; ability to deliver high-quality, timely, and accurate work.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to drive timelines and coordinate across groups to deliver on a common goal.
- Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification (SPHR) and/or SHRM Certified Senior Professional Certification (SHRM-SCP) is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus!
