POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general direction from Pathology and Lab Medicine Finance Director, and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of current and proposed business operations, along with ongoing review and analysis of financial performance for a large and complex department comprised of multiple clinical laboratory sites, more than forty individual laboratories/sections, and over 1000 faculty and staff. Using understanding of financial management, systems and systems relationships, decision support, and dashboard metrics, prepares and presents detailed financial reports including trending and variance analysis. Is able to analyze complex data, understand relationships among sources of information, and make independent assessments. Works collaboratively with departmental leadership and staff, to provide evaluation and support of Pathology’s operations and interests.
**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:**
1. Designs, develops, and enhances financial management processes, tools, and reports to assure timely, relevant, and accurate information to guide Senior Management. (20%)
2. Develops, provides, and interprets periodic and ad hoc dashboard and revenue/expense reports, validating consistency with budget and business plan goals and identifying and explaining trends, anomalies, and variances. Makes recommendations. (20%)
3. Provides specialized financial analysis/research and recommendations on drivers of financial impact such as, but not limited to staffing test volumes, efficiency metrics, price change impact analysis, new clients, new tests, and programmatic performance. (20%)
4. Works collaboratively with URMFG Finance, SMH Finance, and Decision Support to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of departmental tests volumes and financial reporting including accountability for processes and reconciliations. (10%)
5. Provides analysis, guidance and assistance in the development of Pathology’s business plans. (10%)
6. Supports departmental budget management including the preparation of staffing and benefit expense budget modifications. (10%)
7. Provides training/mentoring to account managers to ensure effective financial management of their respective operations. (5%)
8. Documents all the processes and procedures required to perform responsibilities and maintains current and accessible documentation. (5%)
9. Performs other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS** **:**
Bachelors’ degree in Accounting and 3-5 years of relevant experience in a health care field and/or University setting; or and equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
