PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
To support the development and execution of External Affairs' activities and projects for the Pepco DC service territory. Role provides planning, tracking and organization function for External Affairs Team. Responsible for planning and executing broad communications and targeted outreach activities to local government officials & community stakeholders. Position also serves as primary interface with local community stakeholders and elected officials and their staffs who are in need of customer assistance for their constituents. Also responsible for developing and executing the appropriate strategies and day-to-day management of program.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties:PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for day-to-day operation of programs/projects. Maintain and compile qualitative and quantitative data used for reporting the results of the Greenboard Program quarterly to Senior Management. (20%)
- Identify and seek resolution of issues of community stakeholder’s and local officials in a timely manner to enhance customer satisfaction and to minimize or eliminate potential negative publicity or response from county, local and state officials. (25%)
- Plan and support communication programs and strategic relationship building activities with county and municipal officials in support of Company's reputation, key stakeholder relationships and to raise awareness and garner support for company initiatives. (25%)
- On a regular basis assume role of External Affairs Manager in any of the local communities when an External Affairs Manager is not available. (10%)
- Develop and maintain a network of internal & external support resources in support of position's day-to-day responsibilities and special projects. (10%)
- Coordinate, manage, and develop internal schedules for the Monthly Operations Call and the Government Affairs On Call systems. (10%)
JOB SCOPE
Requires detailed knowledge of Company's service territory, external political and government structures, electric operations, and customer service policies. Requires development of effective relationships across all business units of company and with decision makers in the District governmental, business and community sectors. Position utilizes communication, organization and facilitation skills. High degree of confidentiality is associated with the position. Work involves a moderate degree of independent decision-making, creativity, flexibility and ability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis, as needed, and to attend after work hours meetings/events. Much of the work is high-pressured with time constraints.
Minimum Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in political science, communications, business administration, and/or public relations AND 4-7 years related experience in governmental affairs, customer service, communications, or relevant utility experience OR, in lieu of a bachelor's degree, 6-9 years relevant experience is required.
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams, with experience in project management. Requires strong organizational skills.
- Strong communications skills: both written and oral.
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft products including Excel and PowerPoint
- Master in Business Administration
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Company policies and procedures in areas of Customer Service, Credit and Collections and Construction and Maintenance.
- Leadership skills proven in the area of team building, issues management and process improvements.
- Proven ability to write detailed reports, letters and analyze quantitative data.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint Skills
- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors:USD $79,200.00/Yr. - USD $118,800.00/Yr.
