GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Balance of a variety of bids ranging in size, scope, clientele, and deliverable needs in a fast-paced environment
- Conduct oneself as a 'team player' adapting to company needs, urgencies, and resources within an estimating capacity
- Conduct oneself professionally at all times, "selling by how we communicate with, and manage our clientele
- Engage in technology to evolve in efficiency and quality of deliverables, performance and results
- Take ownership and accountability of one's work; see tasks through to completion and ask for assistance as required
- Perform at a 'Senior' level in the following capacities:
- Work mostly independently, taking the initiative to seek support from other members of the team
- Engage in bid negotiations for award when authorized by Estimating Management
- Build relationships with clients through various communication mediums and in-person engagement
- Provide leadership and mentorship to estimators in the form of technical support and training
- Oversee & review bids of other estimators as 'Bid Lead' when as by Estimating Management
ESTIMATING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage estimating processes for assigned bid opportunities from RFP through submission
- Prepare RFI's & communicate with clients to obtain all necessary clarifications to provide a qualified & competitive bid
- Prepare RFQ's to vendors & supply chain to obtain qualified and competitive material quotes
- Perform itemized take off of material, labor, equipment and logistics to ensure comprehensive bid submission
- Analyze construction schedule, logistic plans and similar documents to ensure compliance, or similarly collaborate with clients
- Track and update status of active bid submissions, follow up on proposals submitted, and perform revisions as requested
- Strategize follow-ups and communication with clients throughout the bid process
- Prepare level sheets and 'Best & Final Offers' as requested by clients as part of bid process
POST-AWARD RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all records are transferred and updated amongst team platforms
- Conduct 'Project Kick Off Meeting'
- Support Project Management Team as needed to resolve contract disputes, and to clarify change orders if required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 10+ years recent experience in Architectural Metal & Glass commercial project estimating.
- Experience must include detailed estimate takeoffs, inclusive of labor, material & logistics
- Must be able to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, structural drawings, shop drawings and ability to understand installation requirements and architectural design intent
- Understand that part of the estimating position involves selling the bid to the client. Therefore, candidate must be able to develop relationships with clients and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Self-Starter, with strong technical, communication and organizational skills required
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail, and Google Drive applications necessary
- Willingness and ability to learn new technology to improve work-efficiency
Must's:
- Candidates MUST have 10+ years of glass and metal experience, with a focus on interiors in the NYC market. Exterior/curtainwall experience alone would not be a fit.
- Candidates must live in NY/NJ and be able to commute to our NYC or Long Island location (Hauppauge) at least 3-4 days/week. Any remote possibility would be discussed after onboarding. This is NOT a fully remote opportunity.
