Summary:
A day in the life of the Sr. Equipment Design Engineer includes:
- Design assembly and test equipment using CAD software (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
- Define design requirements, conduct design reviews, attend others reviews and provide feedback
- Prototype and test designs throughout the development process
- Support product design engineers with prototype builds, give input to design for assembly and test
- Participate in manufacturing planning and analysis activities
- Partner with outside suppliers to develop production equipment
- Support qualification and manufacturing launch activities
- Works independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approach to solutions
- Coaches and reviews the work of lower-level designers; may manage projects / processes
- May be responsible for entire projects or processes within a program
- Contributes to the completion of CORE team objectives, building relationships to reach agreements on design direction of product and processes
- Problems and issues faced are difficult, require understanding of multiple issues, job areas or specialties
- Makes improvements of processes and systems to enhance performance of the design group
- Analysis provided is in-depth in nature and often provides recommendations on process improvements for the team as a whole
- Communicates with senior internal and external customers and vendors
- Exchange information of facts, status, and issues to achieve project goals and influence decision-making.
- Provide guidance, coaching and training to other design engineers
- Manage projects, requiring delegation of work and review of others' work
- Requires advanced knowledge of assembly and test equipment design combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through design experience
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- 5-10 years machine design experience
- 5-10 years CAD software experience (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
- Automation design experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Medical Device background
