Sr. Engineer, Android - Foot Locker

Foot Locker, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our  Android development team. As a Senior Engineer, you will participate in development of our Android mobile platform which enables millions of customers to engage with Foot Locker brands through eCommerce, loyalty, and new product launch experiences.  You will be implementing technical strategy, working on building features in the product roadmap, and contributing to the overall code quality of our Android codebase.  This is a hands-on software development role, where you will be actively coding.

• Collaborate with a team of talented Android engineers!
• Work closely with Mobile Management, Product Managers, and Lead Engineer to execute mobile application development strategies and implement technical roadmaps aligned with Foot Locker's company objectives.
• Foster the growth of developers' technical skills by offering constructive feedback through PR reviews. Provide constructive PR comments and encourage team members to do the same.
• Collaborate with other Foot Locker technical teams to understand integrations and advocate for improvements that benefit the mobile development team.
• Actively participate in the incident management process when Android production issues arise, assisting in timely resolutions.
• Take responsibility for the Android build pipeline, ensuring builds are operational, handling build breaks promptly, and ensuring proper functioning of integrations.
• Work with technical lead to document and implement consistent development practices and standards within the Android development team. Identify improvements and advocate for these within the organization.
• Consistently meet your own sprint commitments and assist other engineers when needed.
• Actively participate in tech refinement meetings to break down stories into technical tasks and assign point values.
• Lead by example – ensure that your own code is well designed, well documented, and follows Foot Locker’s standards and best practices.
• Follow Foot Locker’s code branching strategy and help others if they need assistance.
• Ensure code is well documented via PR reviews, and feature documentation is available in Confluence.
• Monitor analytics reporting and ensure issues are logged.
• Contribute to initiatives that improve overall code quality, incorporating tactics like static code analysis and unit testing.
• Contribute to a safe environment where all employees are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes and share learnings with the team.
• Support learning culture within the mobile team, regularly show your own work at Android tech team meetings and recognize / showcase good work from others in the team.
• Collaborate with 3^rd party Android developers. Ensure they have any necessary resources and validate that any code produced meets Foot Locker standards.
• May participate in technical evaluation / interviews of Android developer candidates.
• Stay up to date on trends from Android / Google and share learnings within the mobile development pod.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with the Android platform.
• Minimum of 3 years hands-on Kotlin development experience.
• Experience maintaining a modern Android CI/CD pipeline.
• Hands-on experience with agile development methodologies.

Desired Technical Skills

• Kotlin, Android Studio, Jetpack Compose, Gradle, JSON, REST, 3^rd party SDK’s.
• Firebase, Crashlytics, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Veracode, Airship.

The annual base salary range is $90000 - $140000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
