Sr Electrical Engineer

   My client, located in Burlington, Iowa, is looking for a Sr Electrical Engineer to join its team. The Senior Electrical Engineer will oversee the electrical aspects of on-site capital projects, guiding them from initial planning through to completion. This role involves being the main contact for external engineering firms, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors regarding electrical matters. You’ll provide expert electrical engineering support for large-scale projects involving production, maintenance, growth, regulatory, and environmental considerations. Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7-10 years of relevant industrial experience.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the electrical engineering efforts on capital projects, including scoping, equipment specifications, preliminary pricing, engineering drawings, and project timelines and budgets for electrical, controls, instrumentation, and PLC/DCS components.
• Determine and verify appropriate power requirements, wire sizes, and equipment specifications such as MCC bucket sizes, VFDs, and transformers.
• Oversee and assess the performance of external consulting firms in producing detailed electrical designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Review and validate electrical drawings, calculations, and equipment specifications.
• Manage the selection, purchase, installation, and startup of electrical equipment, coordinating with field personnel and contractors to address technical issues.
• Participate in the system start-up and troubleshooting of new and retrofitted equipment.
• Mentor junior engineers and on-site electricians.
