We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology. This Senior Electrical Engineer is a recognized expert in chosen specialized area with broad expertise in electrical engineering, new product/process development and manufacturing technology transfer with responsibility for resolving significant technical issues as well as providing direction for new technology development activities with a broad impact to the company goals.
This person will be responsible for functional leadership of the Electrical Engineering Group Works on the Design and Development of significant new products/processes and new technologies.
They will be a key decision maker in identifying of areas of technology for potential implementation into our products and processes.They will also lead the technical supervision and project management of complex engineering projects/activities.
This individual develops networks involving cross functional/cross departmental groups as well as communication to Senior and Executive Management.What you’ll work onAble to perform as the Electrical engineering functional manager responsible for staffing and maintaining the groups high level of technical competence.Technical leader responsible for maintaining and enhancing the high level of technical competence of the Engineering Staff.Specify, design, verify and validate new products, in accordance with applicable medical regulatory standards.Responsible for the development of technical project plans and schedules covering all engineering activities (Meeting all Design control and process/product development SOP requirements).Works in the development and management of resource plans, budgets, schedules, etc.Lead the development of process/product specifications, design FMEAs, DOEs, validation protocols.Responsible for managing resources, the creation of project schedules and setting and maintaining budgets.Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams.Participate in technical design reviews for process equipment and product design and requirements documents.Write and submit Engineering Change Orders, as required.Act as independent reviewer on programs in which not directly involved.Responsible for utilizing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.Ensures that processes and equipment meet all applicable standards.Development and execution of new processes, equipment, materials, verification and validation Implement approved Design Control procedures for electrical development in accordance with FDA guidelines.Lead the electrical engineering teams, providing mentoring, technical guidance and career growth planning.Could manage cross-functional engineering teams developing new processes.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, Master’s preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience of relevant experience in electrical engineering and at least 2 years of engineering management experience.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.Excellent knowledge of general Engineering principles.Extensive Knowledge of regulations for medical device development (ISO134851, ISO13485, FDA) is a plus.
Extensive understanding of processes and materials used in the development and manufacturing of medical devices, particularly handheld devices.Experience performing complex engineering calculations and relating results to controlled tests, including statistical analysis, tolerance analysis working in a development environment with an emphasis on medical product development.Writing process/product requirements and design specifications.
equipment/facility/process commissioning and validation required working on a development team with an emphasis on minimizing time to market.Design for manufacture of low cost, high volume handheld electronic products.Extensive knowledge and understanding of GxP, ISO and medical device regulations and the development/implementation of new products/processes in a regulated environment.Extensive experience working in cross functional team environments is required.Strong technical experience in Electrical engineering discipline.PreferredMaster’s Degree in Electrical EngineeringWhat We OfferAt Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
