Your Role:
Dendreon Pharmaceuticals is hiring for Sr. Director who will report to the SVP of Human Resources/Vice Chairman of BOD. The leader is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and administration of Dendreon’s human resources strategies and programs, including succession planning, compensation and benefits, recruitment, training, leadership development, talent management, performance management and employee relations programs. He/she is responsible for establishing long-range human resource strategies and practices for the organization to meet specific business objectives. Ensures business processes comply with regulatory and legal requirements to minimize risk to the organization. May provide internal leadership coaching to members of the CEO’s executive staff and interacts with executive-level management on a peer basis.
Note: This role is on-site at our Seal Beach, CA Headquarters.
Responsibilities:Your Work:
- Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support Dendreon’s mission and strategic vision.
- Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives.
- Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of each business unit regarding key organizational and management issues.
- Work with executive management to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of Dendreon.
- Works with the Manager of Talent Acquisition to ensure the development of comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs and strategic goals.
- Works with the Total Rewards Manager to ensure the development of comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective in a multi-state environment.
- Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation and benefits.
- Champion the desired organizational culture, with a focus on employee experience.
- Develop and monitors resources and budgets.
- Leads investigatory efforts in collaboration with outside labor and employment counsel

Education & Experience Requirements
- MBA or MA/MS in Human Resources or related field required.
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification required.
- 15+ years of Human Resources experience.
- 10+ years of HR Director leadership in a complex matrix organization, healthcare or life sciences.
- Outstanding ability to articulate concepts in a thoughtful manner.
- Excellent leadership skills, with proven ability to develop a high-performance, customer focused, responsive HR team.
- Knowledge of and experience with employee motivation, litigation management.
- Ability to effectively network and collaborate with peers in other functions and with colleagues in other businesses.
- Strong business acumen and use of business analytics to prioritize lead and influence.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Intermittent walking to gain access to work areas
- Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities
- Vision sufficient to use a computer, to read written materials and to complete paperwork activities;
- Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals by telephone and in person
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Limited exposure to (2ºC - 8ºC); (-20ºC); (-75ºC); (-196ºC) areas.
- Must have the ability to work around laboratories, manufacturing areas and equipment, and regularly lift 10 – 20 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs.

- Job performed in a lab, office, or utility (noisy) environment
- Must be able to work around laboratories, manufacturing areas and equipment with exposure to blood, blood products or OPIM (other potentially infectious materials) while donning required personal protective materials.
