Position Objective:
As a member of the Hospital leadership team, this role participates in the development and execution of the strategic goals and initiatives for Luminis Health, LHAAMC and LHDCMC. The Senior Director of Hospital Operations supports the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with the oversight of clinical support departments, focusing on execution of departmental level financial performance and key performance indicators for quality, safety, employee engagement and patient satisfaction In addition, the Senior Director of Hospital Operations will develop and execute assigned hospital operations projects and assist with operational department integration efforts across Luminis Health. Working with the hospital’s leadership team, this role ensures high quality, low cost delivery of care as well as high patient, physician and employee satisfaction. The Sr. Director supports a culture of continuous process improvement, and optimizes all shared and matrixed services regardless of where they may be located within Luminis Health. This role builds strong relationships between the hospital and the community to facilitate the mission and vision and operates in ways to build trust at the system, hospital and community level.

1. Strategy: Assists with the achievement of goals and objectives aligned with Luminis Health’s Vision 2030. Ensures operational plans of clinical support departments are aligned with hospital strategies and objectives. Collaborates with appropriate leadership and translates strategy into actionable goals and execution plans for meeting departmental objectives. Leads selected projects that facilitate the operational success of LHAAMC and LHDCMC. Ensures department plans are aligned with the Annual Operating Plan. Reports regularly on outcomes. Assists the COO regarding operational departmental strategic alignment as well as with integration efforts related to clinical and support departments across Luminis Health.
2. Quality, Safety and Clinical Delivery: Ensures the coordination of actions and realization of service efficiencies that drive increased clinical quality, patient safety, enhanced patient and physician satisfaction. Advises and supports the Hospital COO regarding selected hospital quality and safety initiatives.
3. Performance Improvement: Supports the sustainability of a culture of performance improvement, ensuring the implementation and execution of process improvement methodologies. Lead efforts for implementation across operational departments ensuring consistency with analysis and reporting efforts. Promotes and advances operationally efficient, high quality, low cost results. Leads and manages change through influencing matrixed resources to achieve departmental and hospital performance improvement initiatives.
4. Scholarly Activity – Fosters a culture of inquiry and innovation within the organization, promoting scholarly activity including research and student education. Ensures that GME and other teaching programs are well integrated with hospital operations for optimal learning and outcomes.
5. Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Ensures integration of diversity and inclusion efforts to support organizational objectives regarding workforce development and quality outcomes.
6. Talent Development: Mentors and develops the leadership of clinical support departments, fostering achievement of goals and objectives, high performing leadership practices, collaboration, innovation, and interdependence. Participates in succession planning and supports talent development initiatives within the organization, including the writing and delivery of annual performance appraisals and regular performance coaching and counseling. Employs participative management and leadership approaches that optimize organization resources, talent effectiveness and organizational learning. Motivates, encourages and empowers staff to achieve personal, organizational and team goals. Promotes and sustains an environment that encourages the recruitment and retention of highly qualified employees, including interviewing and selection.
7. Financial Stewardship: Assists COO with meeting financial targets for revenue, growth and expenses. Ensures margin-control and continued focus on efficient, high quality care delivery. Assists departmental leadership with demonstrating financial responsibility through the effective and efficient use of resources in procedures, processes and practices. Supports the development and execution of capital and operating budgets.
8. Community: Supports community partnerships which advance goals and objectives aligned with Luminis Health’s Vision 2030. Actively participates in aligned associations and groups within the region. Facilitates participation of hospital staff on community projects.
9. Communication: Develops and demonstrates processes to ensure open communication throughout departments, the Hospital and system. Is visible internally to physicians, staff, and volunteers, and externally to community partners for relevant programs.
10. Engagement: Assists the development and sustainment of an environment that supports optimum engagement of colleagues, physicians and employees. Ensures collaboration with the Medical Staff, clinical and support departments and shared services, promoting consensus decision making and building understanding between disciplines. Champions behaviors that include respect for individuals, open, honest and direct communication, collaboration and integrity to attain engagement.
11. Regulatory and Compliance: Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Luminis Health’s Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct, ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
12. Results: Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual quality, community, workforce, growth and financial reporting for clinical support departments. Supports Hospital COO with assigned hospital projects, reporting regarding action plans and outcomes. Submits periodic and other special reports as needed.
13. Other system expectations:
- Develops and executes assigned projects by the Hospital COO.
- Participates on hospital committees as specified.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Hospital COO.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum Education:
- A Master Degree in Health Care, Health Administration, Management or Business Administration, or other health care field.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of management experience required.
- Preferred experience in hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, pharmaceutical, insurance or service industries.
Additional Requirements/Attributes:

- Extensive knowledge and understanding of current health care trends and practices.
