Position Summary
Our Head of Office will oversee a specific RLX Brokerage Services branch with the goal of supporting the end-to-end life cycle of developing relationships with new customers and curating freight services to meet the needs of the business. This role will lead a branch that is multi-faceted, working closely with carrier partners to meet customer demands. The Head of Freight will coach, train, and develop the branch's Team Managers/Brokers/Operations and be responsible for helping the team meet established operational and financial expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leverage knowledge and experience to provide coaching and direction to salespeople and operations personnel to grow revenue and margins through high-end sales pursuits and operational execution.
- Manage branch’s P&L, leveraging opportunities to find cost effective efficiency gains while driving branch’s growth.
- Support Talent Acquisition Team by being final decision maker with interviews, providing feedback to recruiters, and adding qualified talent to the branch when needed.
- Train and manage salespeople to have high activity, efficient, organized, and effective sales pursuits.
- Lead by example by bringing on new accounts and booking loads
- Interact and build relationships with branch’s top leads and accounts to act as a point of escalation and ensure we’re properly attacking our best opportunities.
- Train salespeople and operations members in strategic negotiation to ensure profitable outcomes and sustainable partnerships.
- Provide qualified leads and support the branch’s efforts to properly identify, qualify, and acquire new customers via phone, referrals, trade shows, and networking.
- Support weekly Hot Leads Meetings, ran by Team Manager, with each salesperson to collaborate on strategy, identify areas to improve sales pursuits, and provide next-step action items.
- Provide monthly reviews to all leaders of team to discuss goals vs performance, provide action items and SMART goals, and ask for feedback on how you can better support them
- Communicate clear expectations to salespeople and operations personnel – daily call expectations, email response times, etc – and address and document if/when expectations aren’t met.
- Act as a constant teacher/trainer daily. Identify people’s shortcomings in knowledge and practices and work with leaders to turn these areas into strengths.
- Act as main point of contact for all personnel management functions (promotional, disciplinary, etc).
- Provide direction to Account Coordinator/s to ensure the prioritization of most urgent tasks we need them focused on (loads to cover, track and trace needed, etc).
- Perform other tasks as assigned to help grow the business.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and grow sales teams.
- Demonstrated ability in strategics sales.
- Experience of 3-5 years in similarly situation sales environment.
- Freight brokerage experience required.
- Strong ability to lead teams in customer service, communication, negotiation and closing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to excel within a collaborative sales environment
