The Sr Director, Data Architecture will be responsible for leading the development and operation of the data architecture program. The role reports to the Senior Vice President, Data Intelligence.
Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Business Information Security Lead position is completely 100% remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position may have the potential to travel up to 20% dependent on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to fill the role of Sr Director, Data Architecture at US Foods. This position is responsible for defining and managing data architecture strategy, standards, guidelines, and processes that meet strategic and tactical goals while ensuring data quality. The Senior Director will lead a team of architecture experts and collaborate closely with stakeholders to define the technical direction and architecture solutions, including selecting frameworks, identifying dependencies, and driving continuous improvement. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture principles, security requirements, and emerging trends in data-driven solutions, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Strategic Leadership
+ Develop and execute a comprehensive data architecture strategy that supports the company’s business goals and technology roadmap.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a strategic vision for the data intelligence program, including alignment on business objectives, developing best fit solutions, and defining standards for consistency.
+ Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions.
Program Management
+ Track and report progress on operating model effectiveness, KPI monitoring, value capture scorecard, resource approvals, and escalation triaging.
Data Protection
+ Ensure that data solutions protect data based on the data classification standards.
Data Access Controls Governance
+ In partnership with the data governance program, understand and ensure access controls are adhered to in data solutions to ensure every associate has the right access to the right data at the right time.
People Management
+ Lead, recruit, and retain a team of data architects, including mentoring, coaching, and providing guidance for a durable data culture.
Collaboration
+ Work closely with other departments to ensure data initiatives align with broader business objectives and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
+ Collaborate with IT teams, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, information security, and business stakeholders to translate business and technical strategies into data-driven solutions.

+ Extensive knowledge of data processes, cloud data warehouses, and data quality management.

+ Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to build and lead a high-performing architecture team with diverse skill sets.

SUPERVISION : This position will influence hundreds across the organization while supervising 3-5 with a mix of managers and individual contributors and up to 10 contractors. This is a position of high visibility that must be able to lead at the Senior Leadership Team level while influence at the Executive Leadership Team level.
RELATIONSHIPS
+ Internal : This position will interact across the organization. Would need to be comfortable and capable of presenting to the Executive Leadership Team (C-level), SVPs / VPs in the field and in functions, as well as working with SMEs across the organization. Data touches all aspects of our business, and it will span the entire range.
+ External : This position will interact with vendors evaluating technologies and aligning with internal strategy as well as evaluating performance of vendor products including contractors, consultants, software, and services
QUALIFICATIONS
+ 10+ years of data architecture experience with increasingly progressive responsibility.
+ Have Snowpro-Snowflake certification, 5+ years of strong hands-on experience in Snowflake.
+ 5+ years of experience in broad range of AWS services and capabilities.
+ 5+ years of experience in ETL/ELT tools (dbt, Fivetran, Hightouch, Informatica, Matillion).
+ 5+ years of work experience in a managerial/leadership role (i.e., managing a team, either directly or indirectly).
+ Functional subject matter expertise in data architecture and in building and implementing effective data solutions in large, and matrixed organizations.
+ Ability to set a clear vision for the data architecture and to successfully execute on the vision.
+ Strong leadership, people management, and matrixed influencing skills required.
+ Ability to build and generate business cases, develop, and apply relevant metrics, and evaluate return on investment (ROI), quantitatively and qualitatively.
+ Demonstrated leadership, ability to drive results and engage senior executives, as well as ability to influence cross-organizational stakeholders and decision-makers with different operational responsibilities.
+ Ability to independently lead the function with minimal supervision and direction, and to effectively translate theoretical concepts into practical, easy-to-understand milestones/activities.
+ Strong ability to influence at all levels of the organization, including executive management, auditors, employees, customers, and vendors.
+ Strong independent judgment, discretion, critical, and analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills required.

Education/Training :
+ Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Finance, or a related field
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
+ Standard required physical activities including length of time performing each activity.
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $125,000 - $215,000.
This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus and LTI.
