Duties, Responsibilities & Other:- Develop detailed designs for clean energy systems such as solar PV, wind turbines, fuel cells, and energy storage systems.
- Design and integrate protection and control systems for generation and storage solutions, including relays, breakers, and fault detection systems.
- Prepare electrical layouts, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, interconnection diagrams, and protection and control diagrams.
- Specify and size components such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, and energy storage units to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Design protection schemes to safeguard equipment and ensure system reliability.
- Develop control logic for renewable generation and storage systems, including energy management, load balancing, and grid synchronization.
- Program and configure intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) for protection and control systems.
- Perform settings calculations for protection relays, ensuring compliance with system design and operational requirements.
- Conduct fault analysis and coordination studies to ensure proper protection operation and system stability.
- Collaborate with renewable energy engineers, civil engineers, and project managers to align electrical designs with project goals.
- Work with clients, project team, and utility companies to ensure designs meet regulatory and grid interconnection requirements.
- Perform load-flow studies, fault current analysis, and energy modeling to optimize system efficiency and reliability.
- Analyze energy generation profiles, storage capacity, and grid interaction to ensure proper system functionality.
- Evaluate system protection and control strategies to ensure efficient operation under various operating scenarios.
- Ensure designs comply with national and international standards, such as IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and IEC.
- Integrate interconnection requirements from utilities and Independent System Operators (ISOs).
- Stay updated on regulations and advancements related to renewable energy, storage systems, and protection controls.
- Prepare protection and control diagrams, relay settings, and coordination study reports.
- Develop detailed design documentation, technical specifications, and calculation reports for renewable energy, storage, and protection systems.
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning of energy generation, storage, and protection systems.
- Conduct site visits to verify design implementation, validate relay settings, and support testing and commissioning activities.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to protection and control during and after commissioning.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate protection and control systems into clean energy and storage projects.
- Collaborate with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) engineers to ensure proper communication and monitoring of protection systems.
- Develop solutions for hybrid systems combining multiple energy sources, storage, and advanced protection controls.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for protection and control systems, including equipment and installation costs.
- Stay informed about advancements in protection and control technologies, including new relay models and communication protocols.
- Candidate must have worked on all phases of design and have been involved in industry related services of a project.
- Good problem solving, communication, and technical writing skills are required.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation) for electrical design.
- Experience with power system analysis tools, such as ETAP, PSCAD, PSS/E, or SKM.
- A solid background of reliability, commitment to task and project completion and success is required
- PE or ability to obtain PE within one year is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Appropriate graduate level work is preferred.
- Minimum of 4 - 8 years of professional experience.
