JOB SUMMARY:
NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking an experienced SAS Developer to lead projects involving data management, data editing, and delivery programming tasks for NORC survey data, and to promote best practices in SAS programming within NORC.
DEPARTMENT:
NORC's Information Technology program provides technology services to our staff and clients. RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ As part of the data delivery team, the Senior Data Solutions Developer will work with other programmers, researchers, and statisticians to develop and maintain systems that extract data and to prepare these data for delivery to internal and external clients
+ This developer will participate in developing technical requirements, system design, and creation of data flows for data edit and transformation tasks
+ The developer will work closely with the technical project manager to develop work plans, schedules, and prepare work estimates
+ Candidates must be able to work independently under limited supervision
+ The Sr Data Solutions Developer will be expected to quickly understand the specifics of each project and be able to identify problems in datasets, seek out the source of those problems, and clearly explain the issue and recommended remedy to project staff
+ Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS:
+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent software development experience.
+ Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience with complex data manipulation using SAS/SQL and other data management tools. Experience with data editing and cleaning and efficient coding to deal with large quantities of data, building repeatable processes.
+ Required Software Experience:
+ Complex data step, macro programming and Proc SQL.
+ Expert in data editing and cleaning, documentation of programs and procedures, efficient coding to deal with large quantities of data, building repeatable processes, and developing applications that integrate across multiple systems.
+ Expert in Microsoft SQLServer 2000 DTS, database and data warehouse design and development, reports development and systems support.
+ SQLServer 2005/08 SSIS and ERwin data modeling.
+ Knowledge required:strong analytical skills, relational database expertise, SQL language, data manipulation, data analysis, database design
+ Skills required:strong written and verbal communication, programming, structured testing, technical documentation
+ Abilities required:detail oriented, efficient at multi-tasking, works well in groups or solo, ability to lead. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with both technical and nontechnical staff.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The pay range for this position is $97,000 –$145,000.
This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
