Overview

As a Sr. Cost Accountant, you will play a vital role in our organization by overseeing our cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing valuable insights to aid in strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for analyzing costs, preparing budget forecasts, and conducting financial audits to maximize profitability and minimize financial risks.

Key responsibilities

Analyze and report on costs and expenses, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and profit maximization

Conduct regular financial audits to ensure compliance with regulations and accuracy of financial information

Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

Manage and maintain the cost accounting system, ensuring accurate and timely data entry

Collaborate with various departments to gather cost data and provide cost analysis reports

Participate in the development and analysis of product cost standards

Prepare and monitor budget forecasts and provide variance analysis

Evaluate and recommend cost-effective solutions for operational changes

Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic planning

Provide guidance and support to junior members of the cost accounting team

Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and procedures

Interpret financial results and communicate findings to management

Maintain a deep understanding of market trends and their impact on costing decisions

Contribute to the continuous improvement of cost accounting processes and procedures

Collaborate with external auditors during annual audit processes

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred

Proven experience as a cost accountant or similar role

Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting principles, practices, and procedures

Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial software applications

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and standards

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Solid understanding of financial auditing processes and internal controls

Experience in implementing cost accounting systems and process improvements

Knowledge of ERP systems and their integration with cost accounting
