Summary:
We are currently in search of a skilled Software Engineer in Longmont, CO. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing software solutions and support for a diverse range of factory automation equipment. As a Software Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of project development, from initial time/cost estimation to design, programming, testing, installation, commissioning, and field support. Additionally, you will contribute to broader company objectives such as design standardization and the exploration of cutting-edge technologies.

- Collaborate with the applications group to assess project schedules, budgets, and technical feasibility.
- Develop designs, specifications, and control schemes for machines and their integration into larger automation systems.
- Integrate existing software and create new software solutions as needed.
- Collaborate with a team of software engineers to enhance and expand the standard code base.
- Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, including their interactions with control software.
- Align and calibrate precision equipment, and fine-tune machine vision systems for specific applications.
- Operate machines during testing and production phases, making necessary adjustments for optimal performance.
- Calculate and evaluate automation system efficiencies, conducting basic statistical analysis on machine data.
- Assist in the installation of equipment at customer facilities and participate in commissioning automation systems.
- Conduct lessons-learned meetings with team members upon project completion.
- Make customer site visits to address field issues as necessary.
- Provide on-call support after normal working hours when required.
- Stay informed about new industry technologies and share knowledge with peers.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team on the development of innovative technologies.
- Mentor junior-level engineers in areas of expertise.
- Ensure the highest quality in all project phases.
- Maintain a keen awareness of client satisfaction levels and client needs.
- Travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% of the time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in a software development or engineering role involving control system design and troubleshooting. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and troubleshoot complex software systems.
- Competence in software standardization and modularization.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Competence in machine vision applications.
- Understanding of precision positioning equipment.
- Understanding of basic statistical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to program industrial robots, PLCs, and/or HMIs; Rockwell experience preferred.
- Experience with ABB and/or Fanuc robots is a plus.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation control platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with Cognex vision systems is advantageous.
