Our client is a highly respected Construction Management firm with offices across the country. They work in various sectors, including Federal, Municipal, Government, Education, among others.
They have an opportunity for a Sr. Project Engineer to be part of an exciting project with California State University, Long Beach.
Project Details:
Renovation of 180,000 GSF of the existing USU building (includes 160K sf of indoor area and 20K sf of outdoor covered walkways & seating areas) and a 50,000 GSF addition. Key programming elements: food service, wellness center, cultural resource centers, career center, office & administration, social & lounge spaces, recreation & entertainment space, event & meeting spaces, general improvements, accessibility upgrades and site work.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Provide design, technical and administrative support during the preconstruction phase, construction phase and closeout phase.
- Responsible for project document control, circulating, receiving, tracking, and maintaining organized document files, i.e. Review plans, meeting minutes, RFIs, submittals, change orders, ASIs, schedules, etc. Responsible for circulating, receiving, tracking, and maintaining organized document files throughout all phases of design development, permitting, etc.
- Responsible for management of review comments from stakeholders, i.e. circulating design documents for review, collecting review comments, compiling, vetting, tracking, etc. to ensure issues are addressed.
- Assist with change order management. The PE shall be able to independently review change order requests for merit and fair pricing and prepare change orders for processing.
- Manage the closeout and turn over process.
- Assist to prepare project files for CSU system audit at project completion.
- Site conditions verification and support as needed.
- Responsible for setting up meetings as needed, note taking and follow-up.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years minimum experience in the construction industry as a project engineer or similar, including major capital projects
- Excellent communication skills and professional attitude
- Position is on-site, in-person only

- Design-Build Experience
- CM at Risk Experience
- Higher Ed Experience
- CSU Experience
- Experience as a PE for General Contractor
