About the Job
We are seeking a Sr. Construction Estimator for our client based near Exeter NH. As the Sr. Construction Estimator you will analyze the costs associated with construction projects, from the planning stages to completion. Their primary role is to provide accurate cost estimates and help manage budgets for construction projects. This is a critical role for ensuring projects stay within financial constraints and are completed on time.

- Evaluate project blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Develop cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Assess the impact of changes or delays on project costs and adjust estimates accordingly.
- Analyze labor and material costs, construction methods, and timeframes to estimate costs.
- Review historical data from past projects to improve the accuracy of estimates.
- Perform takeoffs (quantification of materials and labor) from project plans.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for cost estimates.
- Communicate cost estimates to stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Assist in selecting subcontractors and vendors based on project requirements and budget.
- Prepare and submit detailed proposals and bids for new projects.
- Review and evaluate the bids received from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Negotiate terms with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable pricing and conditions.
- Monitor the project’s financial performance and provide updates on any cost overruns or savings.
- Suggest cost-saving measures and alternative solutions to improve profitability without compromising quality.
- Identify potential risks to the project’s budget, such as price fluctuations, weather, or supply chain issues.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
- Prepare detailed reports on estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for management.
- Maintain organized records of cost estimates, contracts, and revisions for future reference.
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Some roles may accept equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- 8+ years of experience in construction or a related field, with a strong background in cost estimation or project management.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Buildertrend), Excel, and other project management tools.
