The Compute and Storage Senior Engineer role is to build and maintain all enterprise Compute and storage related activities for the organization as well as provide second and third tier troubleshooting support for daily operational activities. This includes executing all data center life cycle and remote data closet initiatives, planning technology, and configuring / optimizing all compute and storage services. The Compute and Storage Systems Senior Systems Engineer will provide technical support and vendor support engagement regarding incident resolution. The Compute and Storage Systems Senior Engineer role will work to resolve system monitor alerts and assist the team in performing patching and hardware installation activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Acquisition & Deployment
· Lead projects during acquisitions, performing installations/migrations for compute and storage needs.
· Work with project managers and site personnel to implement any new or lifecycle Compute platforms.
· Provide support for the testing of new and existing Server hardware, storage and BRS solutions under development.
· Collaborate with systems engineers/architects for upgrades to operating systems, hardware, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years IT experience.
- 2+ year hands-on VMWare virtualization administration experience
- Prior experience with IT infrastructure administration, storage, and server solutions
- Experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
- Technical understanding of modern enterprise storage technologies, such as Pure, NetApp and Dell.
- Strong technical understanding of compute management technologies and troubleshooting, such as Dell OME or related server management systems.
- Technical knowledge of network protocols TCP, SIP, RTP, UDP, VLAN (802.1q) and troubleshooting communication issues using them.
- Knowledge of trends in technology relating to compute and storage related solutions.
