About the Job
The AOC is responsible to Congress and the Supreme Court for the maintenance, operation, development, and preservation of 18.4 million square feet of buildings and more than 570 acres of land throughout Capitol Hill. Throughout Capitol Hill, AOC architects, engineers and technicians collaborate to design, enhance and maintain both new and historic structures, spaces and building systems, integrating historical sensitivity with modern engineering and technology.
Responsibilities:
- The Sr. Claims Analyst will take the initiative and act to mitigate circumstances that could lead to claims, resolve conflicts promptly, and keep the Government advised of any potential disputes.
- The Sr. Claims Analyst will review disputes and claims from the A/E and construction contractor(s) and render all assistance which the Government may require to include the following:
- Furnish reports with supporting information necessary to resolve disputes or defend against claims.
- Prepare and assemble appeal files and appear in legal proceedings.
- Participate in meetings or negotiations with claimants.
- Prepare cost estimates for use in claims negotiations.
- Prepare risk assessments/analysis relative to claim exposures.
- Prepare findings of fact and other documentation required by the CO.
- Provide litigation support to include court boards, timelines, diagrams, static and electronic illustrations and three-dimensional models.
- Monitors the project proactively to identify or warn the COR of Construction Contractor or Government caused delays or any claims situation. Recommend solutions for recovery from such actions. Assist the Government in claim avoidance.
Qualifications:
- 15 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management or related field.
- CCM certification required, along with either a P.E. or CPA certification.
- Knowledge of software including Microsoft Office, E-Builder and Primavera, among others.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
- Qualified applicants must be able to pass a background check.
