About the Job
The On-site Cabling Team Lead is responsible for directing and leading a crew, as well as participating in the installation of premise network cabling systems at stateside and overseas FBI offices.
Detailed responsibilities of this position are:
- Perform the installation, labeling and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
- Update cable run sheets and other documentation as required.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in reading and interpreting system installation drawings and design packages.
- Promote a safe work environment and implement safe work practices.
- Provide guidance and perform quality assurance checks for subordinate cabling personnel in the installation, of LC, MTRJ, SC and RJ45 connector termination, and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems, as well as various types of cable tray, PDS, and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduit up to 4 inches. able to fusion splice fiber optic cable.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Be highly proficient in the installation and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
- Must be proficient in the techniques for fusion splicing, termination and outside plant installation.
- Understand how to interpret work orders and prints to determine what is required per project.
- Be proficient in the use of splicing technology such as OTDRs, VFL, OLTS.
- Be proficient in the proper handling and installation of LC, MTRJ, SC, RJ45 connector terminations, and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
- Be proficient in the installation of various types of cable tray, PDS, and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduit up to 4 inches.
- Be capable of leading and instructing a team of cabling technicians, and properly documenting any red-line changes to drawing packages.
- Be an effective communicator in coordinating installation work with subordinates and with office personnel.
- A minimum of seven (7) years? experience in the installation of copper and fiber-optic cable plants is required.
- Must possess a valid Driver?s License
- Preferred but not required: Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Technician, , BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC) and BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF) certification are highly desirable.

- Permit-Required Confined Spaces Certification
- Forklift Certification
- Aerial and Scissor Lifts
- Must be confined space certified for outside plant installations
- BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) Certification or equivalent
