Responsibilities:
- Planning and designing new software and application/s and the subsequent analyzes, tests, and assists with the integration of new applications and or data sources.
- Data warehouse design and modeling (star schemas, dimensional modeling) using the SQL Server BI stack in the Operational Reporting and Operations Data (ODS) Source areas of Spotlight.
- Ability to find and interpret rich data sources, manage large amounts of data, merge data sources together, ensure consistency of data-sets, create visualizations to aid in understanding data and building rich tools that enable others to work effectively.
- Ability to join disparate data sets for a consolidated analysis and presentation
- Additional responsibilities to include the definition of business intelligence requirements for multiple subject areas.
- Develops conceptual data models, design, build, and test sets of reporting and analytic business intelligence programs. Works cross-functionally to collect data and makes actionable recommendations at all levels.
- Works with Data Scientists to Infer trends from a variety of data sources and confidently delivers their interpretation and makes recommendations to executives.
- Works with limited guidance in area of knowledge and oversees the documentation of all development activity.
- Provides guidance and support to other internal and external partner and integrate knowledge of business and functional priorities.
- Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment.
- May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.
- Trains non-technical personnel.
- Independently creates or assists in the creation of tracking performance metrics.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL interfaces between multiple disparate systems (e.g. OLTP, OLAP, Excel, Web Services) using SSIS, SSAS, SSRS. And any necessary scripting languages.
- Data warehouse design and modeling (star schemas, dimensional modeling) leveraging the in-house BI applications to include but not limited to Micro Strategy as well as Tableau.
- Perform statistical analysis, data mining and retrieval processes on a large amount of data to identify trends, figures and other relevant information.
- Design, Develop, and maintain the Operations Reporting Data Warehouse ecosystem.
- Develop Cubes in SSAS and SSRS Reports as the presentation layers.
- Performance tuning of Data Warehouse Parser and ETL, as well as ODS extracts for the building of cubes, reports, and extracts to other databases.
- Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements.
- Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
- Develops software update processes for existing applications.
- Assists in taking business intelligence to the next level to support business decisions and recommend best practices and policy in business intelligence implementation, maintenance, and data quality.
- Works cross-functionally to implement key projects. Interfaces with internal and external teams to improve accuracy of performance metrics trending and forecasting.
- Oversees the researching, writing, and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
- Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates.
- Respond to production support issues and Is the primary contact on all nightly support activities that include troubleshooting and remediation of existing processing problems.
- Acts as a technical contact and liaison for outside vendors and/or customers.
- Presents and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiences.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Education Level
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Degree
- Field of Study; Computer Science, Engineering
Years' Experience
- Generally requires 11+ years related experience
- 7 + years of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence design and development experience
- 7+ years of Advanced T-SQL knowledge; must have performance tuning experience
- 7-10 years of hands on experience with MS SQL 2008 R2 SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS (the complete SQL stack)
- SSIS experience is required
- Must have Performance Tuning experience on SSRS Reports
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with IT and Business customers
- Ability to present complex technical ideas in business-friendly language
- Knowledge of distributed networks
- Some SQL Administration experience required
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Flexibility of monitoring nightly support
- Net application experience is desired C#, VB, ASP.Net, ADO.Net, Entity Framework
- Unit testing
