Herndon, VAHybridDirect Hire$160k - $190kA dedicated producer of global energy is looking for a Senior Battery Scientist. Located in Northern Virginia, you will be advancing the development of an automated electricity market bidding platform, utilizing simulation tools, forecasting methods, and data-driven optimization algorithms in Python. An extensive technical understanding of Python is needed along with time spent working on battery models/leading teams in laboratory setting.
The position is full-time and hybrid.Required Skills & ExperienceProficiency in programming languages such as Python5-7 years of industry experienceA Ph. D with a focus in Batteries/Battery ModelingKnowledge of LFP/Degradation/CyclingHands-on experience with battery characterization, including ECM Modeling, Fade Modeling, State of Charge (SoC), and State of Health (SoH) assessments.Ability to work within the United States without sponsorship/visa transferResponsibilitiesDevelop electrical and physical models of lithium-ion batteries. • Develop statistical models to predict and monitor energy storage system performance. • Apply lab-based learnings to field data for prognostic recommendations and problem identification. • Implement, test, and validate models with field data. • Report and monitor on-going lab testing. • Write documentation on algorithm and model improvements to clearly communicate the structure of new methods and implementations, including justification. • Build software products and algorithms to estimate state of charge (SoC), SoC Imbalance, SoH, Useable Energy, Round trip efficiency, and other plant level performance metrics, including collaboration with product and engineering teams.• The candidate must be able to embrace the fast and dynamic environment of a growth stage company, comfortable with adjusting quickly to changing priorities.
