About the Job
The Sr. Applications Analyst will lead project level teams to deliver code that meets business functionality and is in adherence with Carnival's coding standards and security protocols. This role will understand the entire Sales and Guest Services portfolio and will be able to identify system impacts for all projects and would contribute to and influence functionality such as cruise reservations through all sales channels, pricing and inventory control for all sales channels, pre cruise sales and service, trade partner management, groups sales and service and payment processing. This resource would have experience with high availability, high volume, system of record applications. This resource provides technical solutions adhering to industry accepted best practices and will provide input for the direction of project solutions. The resource will be able to work with / lead teams using waterfall, hybrid or agile methodologies. The Sr. Applications Analyst will also collaborate with architects and other developers across Carnival brands to assess and analyze best fit for cross-brand product utilization. The Sr. Applications Analyst may be the sole representative for Sales and Guest Services on certain projects.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as an influential technical lead with responsibilities that include working with business users to gather and document requirements, designing and developing innovative solutions, providing technical guidance and creating functional code adhering to Carnival coding standards.
- Provide technical leadership to ensure business requirements are satisfied and Carnival coding standards are followed. Team members can include but are not limited to architects, developers, testers, and business analysts.
- Understand the end-to-end integration within the Sales and Guest Services portfolio. Apply that knowledge to new requests to produce a system design that will meet business requirements with the least operational impact.
- Maintain a focus on PCI Compliance. Work with GISCS to follow and maintain architecture and security roadmap that aligns to company's business needs today and for the future.
- Be the liaison with third party vendors to ensure designs adhere to CCL technical specification and security standards. Review third party work in terms of quality and adherence to standards
- Provide accurate estimates on scope and cost using both traditional waterfall and agile delivery mechanisms.
- Assist in troubleshooting and debugging in order to provide timely and effective problem resolution to production problems as they arise. Provide 24x7 support to new systems as they are deployed.
- Communicate important decisions to management and keep them informed of progress throughout the entire software development life cycle. Effectively escalate risks and issues to Manager
- Lead a project level team to oversee the build process, design documentation and business communication. Oversee projects from inception through implementation applying their experience with high availability, high volume, system of record applications and systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science of a Related Field
- 5+ years of Computer science experience required
- 7+ years of Software Development experience required
- 5+ years of Technical lead experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong Unisys programming skills. Solid experience of Cobol, SQL, ECL, Formgen, UDEX
- Experience with Azure.
- Solid understanding of integrations to external entities and systems.
- Experience with designing DB structures
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
- Ability to handle multiple jobs at the same time.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, of Quality Assurance techniques using source code control repositories, and debugging & testing experience is expected.
- Strong experience with technical troubleshooting production software.
- Solid experience developing instrumentation strategies for production systems
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Travel: Less than 25% ship and shore-based travel
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida from Tuesday through Thursday. Employees may work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Some positions may require additional in-office time each week and final schedule is determined by your leader. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
